Well, dammit, Bill Moyers. Godspeed to you, and thank you for everything you brought to the medium. Your conversations with Joseph Campbell reconfigured my mind in a way few other ideas and dialogues have.

One cannot help but wonder if the Curia will go the same way so many other bodies politic have in response to a liberal leader. That is to say, can we expect the next pope to be an arch-conservative? Even if Francis softened the College of Cardinals, alliances can be awfully powerful.

Since Cory Booker is rightfully getting a lot of positive attention I just want to add that he has very consistently been one of the only high-level politicians who actually cares about good drug policy and cares about hearing from people with lived experience in addition to other experts.

All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job “because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt.”
