New mural is up at 13th and High St in Eugene, OR!!! This was my biggest and most challenging mural so far (and only my second ever, if you don’t count college projects, hehe). I’m so happy it’s done and out in the world!! ✨ #mural #eugeneOR

A photo of a building taken from a street corner. The building is painted black, with a mural featuring five sheep painted in white. Four white sheep are facing right, with the fifth black sheep running left— a nod to the Minor Threat album cover for “Out of Step” (which is also the namesake of the tattoo shop that occupies this building)!

A closeup view of the right side of mural. In this view, we see four white sheep-inspired creatures running to the right. The focal creature has a starry face and legs (it also has five legs instead of four)!

A view of the left side of the mural. From this perspective, we see the black sheep-creature running to the left, and the back half of one of the white sheep facing the other direction.

I’m kinda bad at posting shop related things but I’m doing a preorder for some screenprinted apparel and this awesome blanket (or tapestry)! :’>

A photo of a blanket tapestry! It is 100% woven with a blend of cotton and recycled cotton, made in the US. The design is black and white with three woolly deer creatures. The middle creature is covered in stars, and there are some stars in the background too. The text on the bottom says “Faunwood”.

A promotional image of a t-shirt design. The tee shirt is Forest green in color, with a three-color screenprint (a lighter blue-green, pale pink, and light yellow). Sizing is unisex. The design is of a woolly forest creature with giant pink drippy mushrooms growing out of it. The drips form a puddle at the bottom, and a smaller creature made of the slime stands nearby. There are birds perched and flying along the mushrooms.

A promotional image showing a hoodie and sweatpants for sale. The hoodie is a teal color, with a Loon design screenprinted on the back (there is also a design on the front, but it’s not shown here). The screenprint colors are ivory, black, and red. The design depicts a loon, facing left, with some stars and water droplets. It’s standing in a puddle with some pond fish and wildlife. The pond has legs (I don’t know how else to describe that lol).

Next to the hoodie is a pair of black sweatpants with screenprinted design on each leg. The colors used are dark purple-blue, bright blue, and white. On the left leg is a large salamander creature swimming among coral fungus. It has stars inside its body. On the right leg, the bottom of the design has some amphibian eggs and hatchlings. As the design goes up, the creatures depicted are “growing”, developing legs and gills.

Both designs use water-based inks!

✶ basket stinkhorn ✶ #aprilcolors2025 day 9 ~

A scanned illustration depicting a creature inside of a fungus called the “Basket Stinkhorn”. This fungus is known for its alien-like appearance; a lattice-like structure resembling a hollow spherical cage with hole openings. In real life, they are bright red and orange, but for this illustration I used mostly purple and pink. The illustration uses ink pens, watercolors, and a white gel pen. There are planets resembling lavender in the background and stars in the sky.

#AprilColors2025 day 6 was slimy, so I drew this lamprey that I saw at the Shed Aquarium in Chicago. All of the descriptions I have read describe it as having a slimy body #art #fish #lampray #ShedAquarium

The head of an eel like fish. It has a round flat mouth lined with spike like teeth

Day 7 - Fireside Lighting … I appreciate what this one taught me, hahah

A photo of a painting in a small 3” x 3” watercolor sketchbook. The painting depicts a creature standing behind a campfire. Its fur is illuminated by the light of the fire, but the edges are in shadow. The sky above is a contrasting blue with lots of stars! The painting is done with acryla-gouache.

Faunwood ✦⁺◦@faunwood.bsky.social · 2y ago

cecropia-inspired moth! (acryla-gouache on canvas) ✨

A scan of a painting depicting a moth creature with a fox-like head. The painting is done with acryla-gouache on an 8” x 10” canvas, using red as an underpainting and layering orange, yellow, dark brown, and muted green over it. I’ve attempted to use large strokes and a drybrushing technique to create a sense of energy and movement (though whether I succeeded is up to the beholder)! The moth pattern and coloration is based on the real life specimen, “Hyalophora cecropia”.

day 6 - 💧 slimy #aprilcolors2025

A scanned illustration depicting three creatures painted with acryla-gouache paint. The theme was “slimy”, so each creature has an element of green slime. On the left, a giraffe-like creature made of ooze bears a black mask and skeleton that can be seen through the transparent body. On the top right is a spikey snail shell with branches of green goop coming out of it, and on the bottom right is a cow made of slime with black horns. A photo of a murky pond with duckweed is used as the border (taken in New Orleans city park)!

#aprilcolors2025 day 5- Bird of Paradise 🐦‍⬛✨

A scanned acryla-gouache illustration of a “Superior Bird of Paraside” in its classic round mating display. The color palette is dark, with lots of black, dark purple/blue, and a pop of light aqua. Some red stars and two other birds can be seen in the background. I don’t know if this is helpful! :’)

day 4 - “Aerial Perspective” 🪱🪱🪱#aprilcolors2025

A scanned illustration of a long, worm-fish looking creature with a branch in its mouth. Its head is a dark bluegreen color, but the body gets lighter as it fades into the background (an attempt to show the “aerial perspective” technique). The medium used is “acryla-gouache”, a paint that behaves like acrylic but dries to look like gouache.

Faunwood ✦⁺◦@faunwood.bsky.social · 2y ago

day 3 - “analogous color palette”

A scanned illustration depicting a mythical creature with features similar to shrimp and caterpillars. It has a green spikey “carapace”, a white mask head, a dark body with many legs, and tendrils. The materials used are watercolor, ink pen, colored pencil, and white gel pen. The colors used are green and blue.

Faunwood ✦⁺◦@faunwood.bsky.social · 2y ago

day 2 - “pitted texture” ( #aprilcolors2025 )

An illustration of a fantasy creature in watercolor and colored pencil. It has a watercolor gradient of yellow to blue, with red and blue colored pencil used accentuate shadows. It has a “pitted” texture all over its body, with little holes. The head is reminiscent of a deer, but the silhouette and legs might lean more into “chupacabra” territory. The illustration has been scanned and is on a solid-colored background.

On a background of black on the left fading/blending out to yellow and orange on the left is a small chameleon walking along a twig. It has a wide white outline around it, and it has adapted its colouring to match the background, with darker orange and black on the tail (left) and fading to yellow shades towards its head. It has a thick humped body and not much neck, the eyes are very large.

#aprilcolors2025 day 1 — manifesting gators. :’>

A watercolor, ink, and colored pencil illustration of an alligator/chameleon hybrid in a small square watercolor-paper book. The form is an alligator, with the coloration, tongue, and swirly tail of a panther chameleon. It’s using its tongue to catch a bird snack!

Same as the previous image, but showing the artwork “in progress”. At this stage, it is only blobs of watercolor with no ink, highlights, or lineart.

A photo from the New Orleans City Park, which helped inspire the subject for the artwork. Spanish-moss draped over tree branches frame a distant cobblestone building on a dirt path. Taken in the botanical/sculpture garden.

It’s kind of a long story, but I’m suddenly in New Orleans. I’ve never been to New Orleans. Two days ago, I did not know I was going to be in New Orleans. … what’s a girl gotta do to see an alligator ???

A male Snowcap in transitional plumage from juvenile to adult. At @tapirvalley.bsky.social #birds #hummingbirds #nature

A small, vibrant bird perches on a moss-covered branch, displaying iridescent plumage with shimmering hues of green, purple, and gold. Its head features a striking white crown that contrasts sharply with the darker tones of its body. The bird's delicate black beak is slightly curved, and its dark eyes appear alert. Its feathers have a slightly ruffled texture, adding depth to its intricate coloration. The blurred green foliage in the background enhances the bird’s vivid colors, creating a striking natural portrait.
