🔬 An intimate glimpse of Colletotrichum graminicola weaving its path during maize leaf infection. 🌿 Biotrophic hyphae elegantly advance between host cells, tracing silent paths beneath the surface. 🧬 A quiet conquest, cell by cell. #Colletotrichum #BIOGER #AgroParisTech #CIALE #USAL #FEMS

Two press releases on our recent study of Colletotrichum graminicola, a fungal pathogen threatening maize. I was glad to contribute to this work exploring its evolutionary history and global spread. imbiv.conicet.unc.edu.ar/el-viaje-evo... www.embrapa.br/busca-de-not...

Starting a new research adventure in France thanks to a #FEMS Research and Training Grant! I’ve joined the #BIOGER unit at #INRAE, #AgroParisTech, to study a fungal effector from #Colletotrichum higginsianum and its role during #Arabidopsis thaliana infection. Grateful and excited! @femsmicro.org 🧫🌱
Daily life in the lab: testing the growth of different #Colletotrichum graminicola strains under stress to evaluate cell wall and membrane integrity. These experiments are part of the MSc project of David Andrés Jerez-Vanegas, a very committed student I have the pleasure of co-supervising. 🔬🍄🙂
Yesterday, we enjoyed a performance by the #ColectivoDiversas choir! They did an amazing job! Congratulations to all the members of the group for their hard work and dedication! =) This video corresponds to ”Canción 8M: Sal a Luchar". Follow them on Facebook: www.facebook.com/profile.php?....
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of leading a practical session of the Genetic Engineering and Genomics course for undergraduate biology students at #USAL. We explored how to analyze and interpret DNA sequences and use basic bioinformatics tools, under the supervision of Prof. Serenella Sukno. 🧬
Our new study reveals diverse #Colletotrichum species causing pre-harvest #apple bitter rot and Glomerella leaf spot in Italy. Findings highlight the need for targeted disease management strategies to protect apple orchards. @plantdisease.bsky.social @salvos-98.bsky.social doi.org/10.1094/PDIS...
Daily life in the lab: Today we used the confocal microscope at #CIALE #USAL to take pictures of #Colletotrichum graminicola infected roots at early stages. It was a very productive session! 🔬
Great session at #ECFG17 today! The #Colletotrichum workshop featured excellent talks and discussions on genetics, evolution, and host interactions. Thanks to all speakers and participants for sharing amazing science! @ecfg172025.bsky.social @henriklicht.bsky.social
Day 3 of #ecfg17, it's time for Aspergillus lab crew! Study by time-resolved microscopy the actin module of endocytosis in Aspergillus nidulans using diferents actin probes and endocytosis mutants. Presented by M. Delgado and M. Pinar, led by @miguelpenalva.bsky.social #actin #endocytosis
Hay contratos/proyectos que son grandes oportunidades, y la combinación de ambos grupos está siendo un éxito @mycroorg de la @ucm.es y @aspergilluslab.bsky.social 🍄🧫🧬🧪

This week at #17ECFG, our team shared findings on the C. graminicola effector CgEP4, which translocates to the nucleus and nucleolus and plays a key role in maize anthracnose. We captured beautiful microscopic images of its localization,a great achievement given the challenges of working with maize.
This week at #17ECFG we presented our findings on CgEP3, a chloroplastic effector from Colletotrichum graminicola that suppresses early immune responses in maize. Many thanks to Pablo García-Rodríguez for presenting the poster and to all team members for their excellent work.
🌽 The maize pathogen Colletotrichum graminicola is shaped by long-distance gene flow and recombination, influencing its evolution and global spread. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for disease management and crop protection. 🔗 Read more here: doi.org/10.3897/imaf...
