For 43 years, the FCC has occupied a Grade 1 historic building on Lower Albert Road. Formerly a dairy farm depot, the building has been repurposed into a hotspot for Hong Kong’s #journalism community & professionals across various industries.

Keith Macgregor, a commercial photographer who was already well-known in #HongKong for his family portraits & postcard-worthy city shots, made a new name for himself in the late 1990s by capturing the city’s iconic #neon signs which have now become a rare sight.

FCC Podcast: Shipping Panel Preview Since the Israel/US war upon Iran, shipping lanes have stalled & insurance premiums have surged by up to 1,000%. Over 800 stranded vessels & 10,000 crew members face mounting risk as fuel prices & inflation ripple through global trade.

In 2025, FCC member & professional photographer Ben Marans collaborated with ImpactHK to create a series of workshops for those who have experienced homelessness. The participants gathered weekly to learn technical skills, the art of visual storytelling & to find their voice through #photography.

Hong Kong’s iconic #neon signage began with the discovery of noble gases in 1898. The unique properties of neon, argon & other elements were used to create commercial signage unlike anything seen before. Neon quickly took off in the US, Shanghai & eventually Hong Kong.

Pankaj Mishra is an essayist & novelist, as well as a longtime contributor to various legacy publications. He's recently helped launch Equator.org, a magazine that aims to "create a more cosmopolitan home for thought and art than Western periodicals."

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) has become a cultural flashpoint across the world with varying levels of public interest & discourse. In the #US, support for DEI has declined due to new policies put forth by the #Trump administration which views DEI as a threat to American society.

Eudora Wang, a former Clare Hollingworth Fellow & current FCC member, met James Allen in Bert's Bar in 2018. Unbeknownst to the both of them at the time, they would begin dating the following year & eventually got married last October in the FCC's Main Dining Room in front of all their loved ones.

Bruce Aitken first arrived in Hong Kong in 1972 & since then has become a spiritual mentor for the city's foreign prisoners. As host of "The Hour of Love - Prison Visitation on the Air" which is on every Sunday night on AM 1044, Aitken relays prayers of encouragement for those behind bars.

When AI expert & investigative journalist @karenhao.bsky.social first began covering OpenAI in 2019, she thought they were the good guys. Through her investigative reporting, she found OpenAI to be the leader of a new & ominous age of empire in which only a small handful of companies can compete.

It’s not often that a #Nobel laureate visits the FCC. Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz, winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics, visited #HongKong for the International Forum on China’s Economy and Policy 2025 & came to speak at the FCC while in town.
