At the show I saw tonight, a man in the audience *screamed* at the person next to them to turn off their distracting phone—which was itself EXTREMELY distracting. Granted, he’s probably mentally ill. But it’s always interesting when the policing does more damage than the crime.

Reminder: The Sound of Music is neither realistic nor remotely historically accurate. The characters sing and dance. They all speak in English. In real life, Georg married Maria in 1927, and they’d had two kids together by the time they left Austria (to Italy by train, not over the Alps by foot).

FWIW: Everyone is excited about Paddington and Evita, and so am I, but the London musical I’m most psyched to see—if and when it ever comes to Broadway—is Dave Malloy and Lucy Kirkwood’s adaptation of The Witches. Fingers crossed.

So I got 23 out of 26 Tony predictions right, my best score maybe ever. Alas, two of the three I got wrong were two of the biggest m categories: Best Musical and Best Musical Revival. But still, a pretty dang good score! :)
