Harp’s reasoning for declining to complete the process was unknown. After concerns mounted among the WH counsel’s office and security officials, the president intervened, and Harp in recent months filled out the forms to launch a formal federal background investigation and received the clearance.

“Declined to seek a security clearance” was simply not a thing before the One Special Boy. You didn’t have a choice about these things. The media did not write those words normalizing illegal things. And then we simply decided nothing - not laws, not norms, not the Constitution - mattered anymore.

This is a TERRIBLE argument. To understand why, think of the word “fire,” which has a secondary definition of “to set on fire.” DOJ’s argument is akin to saying that “an objective viewer” of an Instagram post saying “fire Trump” could read it to mean “set Trump on fire.”
