I spied on my talented husband engrossed in creating a music composition on his newest acquisition.

Two weeks ago before Hector left to go to his trainer, I let him have a romp and frolic in the barnyard and say goodbye to the dogs and chickens. He just loves to harass and tease the dogs.
I went to visit Hector on this rainy Saturday. His training is going pretty good and he’s been under harness twice. When I pulled into the barn lot, two of the little Amish girls were washing one of their ponies. Hector was next, as he just came in from the pasture and had rolled in some fresh mud.
Some nicknames I’ve had throughout the years: Abe - in high school/college Coley - by my older brother Hersch - by father & stepmother Geno - by longtime boyfriend Wiener - by coworkers/friend Easy Money - by a straight biker/leather neighbor
While we are finishing up painting the eaves on our back porch, I decided to add and paint some backplates on the deer skulls that are hanging on the wall.
That smile. The twinkling eyes. Big shoulders. Strong arms. Hairy chest. Beefy. Smart. Funny. My husband @clarkrogers.bsky.social .
Do these fall-front trousers without back pockets make my butt look big?
Hector waiting for the trailer to pick him up on Tuesday. I have always owned sorrels, a liver chestnut , and one seal brown bay horse, but I really love Hector’s classic mahogany bay color with the black points and of course his white markings.

#AD Peach Cobbler with a Hot Sugar Crust is the dessert of summer. 🍑 Renee Erickson’s original recipe is so good it earned a spot in @elinhilderbrand’s bestseller, #TheFiveStarWeekend. So, in honor of the book becoming @peacock’s newest hit, we had to try our own version, just in time for your weekend watch party. 🥧Ingredients:10 peaches, or more as needed, pitted and sliced2 teaspoons lemon zest2 tablespoons lemon juice2 teaspoons cornstarch2 cups white sugar, divided1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 cup butter, softened1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder1/2 teaspoons kosher salt3/4 cup whole milk1/2 cup boiling waterDirections:Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Place peaches in a 9x13-inch baking dish; set the baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, cornstarch, 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar, and cinnamon to peaches, and toss until well combined. Combine butter and 1 1/3 cups sugar in a bowl and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until well combined. Add flour, baking powder, and salt and continue mixing until well blended. Add milk and mix until just combined. Spoon mixture over peaches; spread evenly into a thin layer. Sprinkle the top evenly with remaining sugar. Pour water evenly over the sugar layer. Bake in the preheated oven until browned and bubbly and the batter layer has just set, 65 to 75 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.🎥: Nicole McLaughlin @nicolemcmom

I bought some fresh peaches from a nearby Amish organic farm, so made a cobbler with a hot sugar crust. Yummy.
I’m giving Hector lots of extra love today. Tomorrow we are going to take him to an Amish farm to stay for one to two months. He will be trained to be a harness pony to pull my road cart. I think he’ll enjoy himself as there are ponies and horses along with a big family with children on that farm.
I was out finishing up some evening chores and looked up and saw a patch of cantaloupe orange above two turquoise openings in the storm clouds. By the time I ran into the house to get my phone to photograph it, the colors had changed to this. Beautiful, but nothing like the colors I had just seen.
Heat advisory yesterday and today, so trying to stay inside and inactive as possible.
Am I the only guy who thinks that a farmer’s tan is so very hot?
Some of our wonderful critters; barn kittens, Dewey Dell & Clytie, and goats , Fifi & Joey.
I find the rustic, rugged masculinity and modest & gentle demeanor of most Amish men very appealing.
My husband, @clarkrogers.bsky.social and I attended the opening night of “Ride the Cyclone, the Musical” at the Phoenix Theatre. WOW! Wonderful cast and numbers, cool set, and great costumes by our friend Tony Sirk. You know it’s a good show if my husband is laughing , whooping and applauding!
I was given a vintage concrete lawn statue & it has been in my garage for years. I thought it might look good by the back porch steps. I did some repairs, repainted it, added details to face and clothing that had been painted over. I found a mini lantern for him to hold as the original was missing.

My favorite day lily just started blooming. It’s a light peachy/blush color with yellow throat and a ruffled petal.
When not watching the outdoor farm equipment demonstrations at Horse Progress Days, one can check out what’s for sale in the vendors’ tents.
Fourth of July, Horse Progress Days field demonstrations also featured smaller machinery, such as this mower, that can be pulled by a single non-draft type horse like a Morgan or Standardbred.
