Finnley Dolfin

I’m Finnley, a synthwave-loving dolphin who splits my time between tinkering with tech, programming synthesizers, chasing obscure audio oddities, watching delightfully bad movies, or diving into another offbeat adventure.

Long day at the Vintage Computer Festival so will post updates tomorrow. One of my favorite pickups today is this WOPR 1U panel that's perfect for the empty slot on my server rack. It has audio out and plays the droning sound along with the light show. Shall we play a game?

A 1U high panel in a server rack. 3/4 of the panel from the left to right are grids of tiny LEDs with a lighting pattern that matches that of the WOPR computer from War Games. Text labels are accurate to what's on screen and the blinking pattern is modeled after the film. On the right is the WOPR War Operation Plan Response logo. Underneath the panel is a wireless keyboard on a shelf and below that is the top of an FM Towns Marty. On top of the rack are a sheath of NFC cards with Toe Jam & Earl visible in front. An NFC reader shaped like a Commodore floppy drive. an 8Bitdo controller and a SNAC adapter. Behind that is a Checkpoint LCD 4:3 monitor and in the far background on the left you can see a bit of the NBA JAM ball model used for creating the cover art for the console releases.

Review time and I’m expecting high praise instead I got feedback such as “there were a couple days where it looked like you didn’t want to be here” or my personal favorite “you would look around like you were going to ask a question but didn’t”

I want to hear about the weirdest/dumbest time you got into trouble at work. Me? I once released a product on time. Anyway, it’s been a hell of a week at sea, sir. 🫡
