There are lots of books here that I will need to check out. But The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow and A Mouthful of Dust by Nghi Vo are both extraordinary works by two of my favourite authors. So it's wonderful to see those two books on this list. I also liked The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar.

My husband and I spent the afternoon and evening on some great games we've been neglecting lately. We have a goal to play all of the games we own* by the end of the year. After today's games we're 80% of the way there. *exceptions apply 😅 (nothing that can't be played at 2 & excluding some oldies)
A lazy holiday morning was the perfect opportunity to try these games. Wow, what a fun line of quick abstracts! Top Cap and Cat-a-Comb particularly surprised me by how clever they were. I wish Light Seeker had a play mat, and player aids would help Forgenesis. But they were all fun. #boardgames

So colour me surprised when I stumbled upon them randomly today at my (small) FLGS! Can't wait to crack these open & play. They are such quirky but appealing packages, with fun components too.

Another day full of #boardgames. Woot woot! So far today my husband and I have played 14 different games. And I don't think we're done yet. I'm so glad we gave ourselves a couple of days to just play and chill. A much needed change of pace.
It's been a hard week. Brutal exposure therapy sessions. Many panic attacks. Today my husband & I spent the day playing games including one each of the games on our tracker. Play is healing. Sitting at a table and engaging with a clever work of art can turn a bad day good. It did today. #boardgames
All I want is to live in the Flamecraft town. Is that too much to ask!? Please, send me to a town full of artisan shops run by a diverse set of people and cute little dragons. A crème brûlée finished by dragon's breath would fix everything for me tbh.
I truly thought and hoped that, when the attack on transgender rights began in Canada, we would see a real growth in financial support for trans advocacy. That hasn't happened. And idk how to put in words how sad and worried that makes me.
I don't know that I can pick a greatest ever. But it's often going to come back to Sondheim for me. At the moment I Remember from Evening Primrose is on my mind: I remember days, or at least I try But as years go by, they're a sort of haze

Orbita in particular is phenomenal. We just had our 5th play. If you like The Yellow House, you'll be a fan of this too. Elegant design with a deceptive amount going on, but plays smoothly. I can't wait to play it more. The Phantom of the Opera is also fun, but less of an instant hit. #boardgames

I used too many of my spoons to make this tart but it came out pretty so the exhaustion and muscle spasms were totally worth it, right? 🙃 Someday I'll have my energy figured out. For now I have a peanut caramel ganache tart with a cookie crumb crust to share with friends tomorrow. I'll take it.
This was so deeply satisfying. I won the race to the 7×7 bonus in Patchwork by filling in *exactly* a 7×7 area. I've played this game many times and this very seldom happens but when it does it feels remarkably good for a frankly pointless achievement. #boardgames
No feeling beats discovering a new favourite #book. I spent my morning reading How To Survive This Fairytale by S. M. Hallow & have been in its trance since. I'll be gushing about this perfect little book forever. If you like fairytale retellings & emotional books, it doesn't get better than this.
My in-person board game plays for May. A slower month than my usual. Life was life-ing pretty hard this past month. But I was able to make time for some games anyways :)
Someone asked me how I can continue to write fiction where people find a way to be better when the world now shows it's not the case. And fella, nothing the fash want you to do more than give up on hope but you really must not. If it's getting too dark to see you don't turn out the lights.
I cannot wait for this! A new edition of Mexica with a second board for faster games!? Bridges of Shangri-La noa having a 2 player mode!? Sign me up. (Also now I can stop my desperate hunt for a copy of the Super Meeple edition of Mexica!)

Sad news. I always had an impression of Osprey as a discerning publisher. The games I have of theird speak to a high bar for excellence in design, & have wonderful productions. I'm grateful for The King is Dead: Second Edition, High Society, Letterpress (severely underrared imho) and Village Green.
