🎉 A major milestone! For the first time, we successfully fertilized and hatched Delta Smelt larvae using cryopreserved sperm. This breakthrough offers new hope for the spawning success and conservation of this critically endangered species. Interested? Please see the video 😊

The final batch of endangered longfin smelt has hatched! Despite challenges in broodstock availability, we have 70,000+ larvae at 40 dph. Excited to track survival and growth performance at 80 & 300 dph with diet & tagging experiments. Huge thanks to our collaborators! #Conservation #Fisheries

The experiment is underway. After being tagged with various kinds of tags, we will observe the performance of our F1 juveniles of the endangered Longfin smelt. Anticipating an intriguing event.

So excited to see the 1st batch of our endangered longfin smelt’s hatchlings are playing in the incubator. Looking forward to using them for future studies.
