The older I get, the more cynical about some things I am. At this point I honestly feel like it would be better for society if we deleted the stock market and went back to pensions for retirement. Speculation in general just seems to be tied to the worst things these days.
Just got a phone call from my PCP that my assigned doctor was let go from the practice due to "corporate downsizing". Capitalism in healthcare is utter cancer.

Topics of conversation at dinner with my coworkers: International travel ❌ Sales ❌ Sports ❌ Investments ❌ Exotic vacations ❌ I often feel like I'm out of place with other adults (especially in social settings like bars) but more the truth is that the traditional conversation topics are so BORING.
I'm 40 today. My back does not hurt, I weigh less than I ever have in my adult life, I exercise regularly, and I still play and enjoy video games. Which is not what my parents predicted for me, in an effort to try and scare me into acting like them. Take care of yourself, and do what you love.

My first Metroid game was Metroid Prime, and I never really was into traditional metroidvanias until a friend bought me Timespinner and I played it in a randomizer. I've since played several metroidvanias, and today, I completed Super Metroid 100%. I get it now. Good game.
The GM Energy charging stations by EVgo have turned into my favorite charging network. Paired with Flying J/Pilot, it means we're always somewhere with predictable convenience and the stations are usually covered, which is very nice

My at-home EV supply equipment wouldn't run at full speed and was throwing an indicator of overheating. After a while I started to become suspicious so I took it apart and checked it. The electrician I hired used 10 gauge wire with a 60A 240V breaker. It calls for 6 gauge. Fuck me, I guess.

As a tenured professional in my field, the #1 thing I hate being told to do (usually with the air of finality and urgency) is something that I've already done.
So, uh, you can get a barely-used EV from Hertz for a bargain. For reference, this model is an Ultimate, and would have retailed for $60k a year ago. Shoutout to @techconnectify.bsky.social for making me confident enough to buy non-Tesla.
I dislike it when I see American or Confederate flags being flown off of trucks/SUVs. Fly the flag of the United Federation of Planets. That's the shit that will really get me fired up.
