New paper in @physrevx.bsky.social from Jack McIntyre @qmspaceplasma.bsky.social, providing evidence from #ParkerSolarProbe for the existence of the helicity barrier in the solar wind, which may alter how turbulence heats space and astrophysical plasmas journals.aps.org/prx/abstract...
Evidence for the Helicity Barrier from Measurements of the Turbulence Transition Range in the Solar Wind
Data from NASA's Parker Solar Probe reveal that a barrier to the transfer of energy often forms in the solar wind, limiting energy reaching small scales and helping explain why solar wind protons are ...

My latest paper, regarding magnetosheath jet formation associated with a solar wind rotational discontinuity, is now published! agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/...
Magnetosheath Jets Associated With a Solar Wind Rotational Discontinuity in a Hybrid‐Vlasov Simulation
We conduct a 2D hybrid-Vlasov simulation of the interaction between Earth's bow shock and a solar wind rotational discontinuity Magnetosheath jets that form during the shock-discontinuity interac...

Shiladittya Mondal presents his work on near-Sun electron scale turbulence at the Parker Four conference
Had a fun #EGU25 and lots of discussions at my poster in the collisionless shock session. Always a delight to meet my international #heliopysics colleagues and friends!
Our collisionless shocks session at #EGU25 drew a great crowd, sparked insightful discussions and set the stage for new #heliophysics collaborations. Thanks to everyone that attended!
Jets were recently found at Mars, and we made a statistical study, using data from the Maven spacecraft, to find out more about them. You may read the paper here: doi.org/10.1051/0004...
A postdoc position is available to join my UKRI #UKRIFLF project. Deadline 20 April 2025, start date flexible but available immediately. Enquiries welcome. More info and application: qmul-jobs.tal.net/vx/mobile-0/...

Impact of pressure anisotropy on the cascade rate of Hall magnetohydrodynamic turbulence with biadiabatic ions
The impact of ion pressure anisotropy on the energy cascade rate of Hall-MHD turbulence with biadiabatic ions and isothermal electrons is evaluated in three-dimensional direct numerical simulations, u...

Our review paper on downstream jets is out! We summarize findings from 100s of articles on how jets form at collisionless shocks, their role in planetary systems, and their space weather effects. Many questions remain to explore! Read it here: link.springer.com/article/10.1... #Heliophysics #Space
Jets Downstream of Collisionless Shocks: Recent Discoveries and Challenges - Space Science Reviews
Plasma flows with enhanced dynamic pressure, known as magnetosheath jets, are often found downstream of collisionless shocks. As they propagate through the magnetosheath, they interact with the surrou...
