Also, if the idea is equivalent living conditions across the UK, then in a fragmented party system, devolving power politically could easily lead to the opposite. Maybe local politicians make better choices, but partisanship will in most cases trump localness.

Terrible that Russia hit the Pechersk Lavra. I visited in 2021 while living in Kyiv for a few months - it would be similar to Westminster Abbey or St. Paul's being on fire here. We really need to up our efforts to support Ukraine with air defence, especially patriots. Slava Ukraini!
It's a bit funny. Everyone's complaining that the government isn't bold enough, and if they are bold, people say it's all too draconic and they should have done another review etc.
The government putting in a social media ban for under 16s is likely the right policy, given the evidence on impacts on mental health. Below a few thoughts regarding some critical points that people have put forward:
