Excel (Excel Saga) - an endearing disaster with a chaotic mind
Gintoki Sakata (Gintama) - seemingly laidback, switches from absolute comedy to serious acts of heroism

The scene is inspired by Jean de La Fontaine's fable "The Crow and the Fox" (Le Corbeau et le Renard), in which a fox showers a crow with compliments to persuade it to sing. When the crow opens its beak, the cheese falls to the ground and right into the fox's paws. The moral is that flatterers live at the expense of those they flatter.
