A huge thank you to everyone who supported my fundraiser for Skye's assistance dog. I am delighted to have come in third-place in the Women's Category in my first Marathon yesterday. 🌳 🏃🏻 We raised £525 towards the £10995 goal (links in the replies). #Marathon #MagnaCarta #Fundraising

While I appreciate the motivational data visualisation @justgiving.bsky.social the implied sum in this visualisation is driving me wild! #DeceptivePatterns #BadDataVizForGood? #DataViz #UX #ContentDesign

A basic horizontal barchart type visualiation is shown - as a screenshot from a Just Giving email. The number on the left lower end of the bar is £180 the number on the right, the upper end of the bar is £500. The bar gauge is shown exactly halfway between £180 and £500, implying that £180 is half of £500. £250 is half of £500, so this is really deceptive UX although being used for a good motivational cause.

Need to clean up a Zoom chat to make a learning resource? On a Mac? Here is how. Download the chat > open in TextEdit > Press Cmd F on keyboard > Select dropdown next to 🔍 > Select Insert pattern > pattern to remove timestamps '##:##:##[blankspace]Any:' > replace. To remove comments: 'Any:Any' #Zoom

The Replace checkbox has been been ticked and the 'replace' text entry field has been left empty. The replace all button is being selected to remove all the occurrences that match the pattern added in the last step.

Repeating the same steps in TextEdit, this shows the cmd f > 'insert pattern' again. This time it is to remove the comments and emojis'. The pattern for that is Any:Any.

You may remember me from 'that bird site' of yore. I went to Mastodon, I'm still there (toot.community/deck/@fmacne...). I resisted adding another platform, because since moving from HE to corporate I had to invest time in LinkedIn...However, LinkedIn doesn't love you back... is it different here?
