I have reached peak middle age. Took the kids to a fun fair and instead of thinking “that looks fun” I’m thinking “I wonder that was last inspected for health and safety”. Where’s my pipe and slippers?

Two weeks ago I put TCP on a cut on my thumb. I’ve showered daily and washed my hands countless times and I can still smell TCP. That stuff would survive a nuclear holocaust I swear.

Went into the lake in my waders to rescue a duck that had been injured by a group of teenagers with stones and rocks. A wonderful lady from Swan Support UK has taken him into their care and I hope he recovers. What I’d like to do the youths isn’t publishable.

In Japan it’s considered the height of rudeness to have a phone conversation on the train or public transport. Yesterday on the way back from London the whole carriage listened to a very loud conversation from a man who’d had an anal cyst drained that afternoon at hospital.
