"Charlie Chaplin's Comic Capers" by Stewart W. Carothers, 1915-1917 September 9th, 1915 as seen in the Tacoma Daily News

Comic strip "Charlie Chaplin's Comic Capers," based on the Little Tramp character created by silent film star Charlie Chaplin. The Little Tramp sits on a park bench and cries, upset that his shenanigans led to another man being struck. He's not upset that the man got hurt, but that the cartoonist always evens things out. The Tramp is then knocked off the bench by a stranger. Comic was taken over by "Warren & Ramsey" and then E.C. Segar after original cartoonist Stuart Carothers died falling out a window a month after this comic strip was published.

Sunday comic strip "Alphonse and Gaston." Subtitled "They Go to the Pier to Meet Their Friend Leon, Just Arrived from Paris." Alphonse and Gaston meet Leon as he's walking down the gang plank, holding up the passengers behind. After some extended niceties, the passengers get impatient and walk right on top of the three men, crushing them underfoot.

Single panel informational comic strip "Know Your Navy." Subtitled "The Big Ear." Artist's rendering of a radio telescope. Caption read: "The Navy's huge new radio telescope will give scientists the most powerful 'ear' in the universe. The 'Big Ear' is able to probe into space 19 times farther than the famed Mt. Palomar optical scope. It has a reflector 600 feet in diameter; an overall area of more than seven acres. Known officially as the Navel Research Station the entire structure weighs more than 20 thousand tons." While not stated directly, I believe this is in reference to the Sugar Grove Station in West Virginia.

When checking through the window, Skeeter sees a cat at Hoiman's food bowl, a cat that the dog is terrified of. The strip would be retitled to "Muggs and Skeeter" shortly after this.

Sunday comic strip "Foxy Grandpa." While at the beach, Grandpa tells the grandsons, Chub and Bunt, to stay by the shore while he goes swimming, and to look out for crabs. As Grandpa dives underwater, the two boys decide to pull a prank and pretend the crabs got them, only to find something actually pinching their feet. Turns out it's Grandpa, having a laugh.

Informational sports comic strip "The Sports Parade." Football highlights of 1935. Full text: "Ace Parker of Duke ran 105 yards for a touchdown against North Carolina - Milt Popovich equalled this feat - playing for Montana against Oregon state. Bert Johnson of Kentucky completed the longest forward pass - 66 yards - to Bob Davis against Maryville! Larke Super of Baldwin-Wallace got a punt for 85 yards - 70 yard in the air - Bill Lynch of Princeton drop-kicked a goal 46 yards against Rutgers! Lou Ferry - St. Mary's - made two field goals against Fordham! George Furey - Columbia - sprinted 79 yards with the opening kickoff to beat Standford 7 to 0!"
