🚨New Paper🚨 (hi law reviews!) ‘Digitizing the Fisc’ is the first article to address the current separation of fiscal powers crisis, exemplified by Trump's takeover of the Treasury's payments IT systems, through a tri-dimensional legal, political economic, & technological lens.

NEW: The Trump Justice Department says it will investigate Colorado's prosecution of Tina Peters, the former Mesa County clerk sentenced to nine years for breaching voting systems in an unsuccessful search for election rigging. (1/3) #copolitics

Musk here isn’t simply being stupid. He’s purposely defining Nazism down. The claim that there weren’t Nazis until, in effect, 1939, is ridiculous—but it is an attempt to stop people from correctly calling out elements of Nazism today as long as or until there’s not an actual world war or genocide.

I raised this concern in January 2017 before Trump even took the oath of office. It’s not hard to make a fortune off of market volatility if you had advanced knowledge of which direction it was going to turn and the precise timing of Trump’s announcements.

Trump’s reckless tweets are a convenient way of causing turmoil in the markets, however. Cronies & family members would be in an incredible position to short key stocks if they had advance knowledge of his tweets. I wish Michael Lewis (of The Big Short) would write about how this might be gamed!

Screenshot of a long Twitter thread of my tweets from 2017-19 warning people that the lack of transparency in Trump’s business dealings puts him & his cronies in a good position to short stocks and make a fortune based on market volatility driven by his reckless tweets.

So let's review. Over the last 24 hrs we've learned that two DOGErs embedded at IRS are finalizing a plan to share your tax data with people throughout the government; that's plainly illegal. Meanwhile Mike Johnson claims that Elon is already pouring your Social Security data into his AI and he's...

So two DOGEbros now embedded at IRS are, according to WAPO, finalizing an 'omnibus agreement' for IRS to share Americans' individual tax data with officials across the US govt, something that would appear to be plainly illegal. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

NEW PIECE: Since early on this crisis I've thought about the fastest warning signs of mass payment failure or mass impoundment. I pursued "deep background" calls with former or current Federal Reserve/Treasury/Banker informants to find out. This is the result www.crisesnotes.com/how-can-we-k...

I’m genuinely enjoying everybody’s historical analogues. Third Reich? Vichy? SDF? Let’s hear it. Nobody loves the rhyme of crisis more than me. But I’m still not convinced the model isn’t just America’s good ole Jacksonian era apartheid-based spoils system.

As a journalist who covers extremism at the local level, I think it’s a mistake to view Trump’s Napoleonic statement as solely about presidential power. Consider if it’s interpreted as a wink and a nod for any extremist to act outside the law to “save” the country as they see fit

BREAKING: tries to spin what looks like a major retreat. Per @WSJ in December Orion — which aimed to be GPT-5 — was “behind schedule and running up major bills”. Today, Altman rechristened Orion as GPT 4.5 not 5, which likely means Orion never met expectations so-called scaling laws had implied.
