Seeing people who refer to SAG or any other labour union as a "mafia" or "bullies" doesnt just strike me as the opinions I'd expect a child to have, but a fundamental depressing misunderstanding of how unions actually function. They exist to give power to people who do not have any individually.

If anyone is seeing some kind of chart supposedly showing the advantages and/or gains for VAs from management’s “last best and final”, you should know the following: - This did not come from the union. - It is DEEPLY misleading. - The fact that it’s circulating now is extremely suspect.

Hey. I'm gonna be real. To all the rich VAs saying "this strike needs to end" because your bottom line is starting to hurt: Suck it up. Those of us at the bottom who have a hell of a lot more to lose are running Uber Eats etc to make it through this. The strike will end when we get our deal.

My husband and I run a game store and after all the tariff announcements, he decided to write out kind of a "behind the scenes" of how we spend and spill it out for people who don't understand. He's had so many reactions and shares I wanted to bring it here, too.

Sometimes in this fast-moving and complex modern world, it’s hard to know what’s right and what’s wrong. But here’s a handy rule of thumb: If you are ever on one side of an issue, and Sesame Street is on the other, YOU’RE the bad guy.

1) Okay, people, we need to discuss this. SAG-AFTRA is an actor-run, actor-led organization. Here's a crudely-drawn, but accurate guide. See how much of this is UNPAID VOLUNTEER work? Those are actors, volunteering their time and energy at the union.

I'm talking about the dogpiling and going through post history stuff, my guy. *that's* the BS part. It's not healthy for Martin to be fighting SAG's battles because SAG themselves should be clarifying things, not acting like it's *only* about AI protections while VAs have to argue for them (unpaid).

Booker: "I confess that I have been imperfect. I confess that I've been inadequate to the moment. I've confess that the Democratic Party has made terrible mistakes that gave a lane to this demagogue. I confess we all must look in the mirror and say 'we will do better.'"

1) When an actor is in the midst of negotiating or fighting for better wages/working conditions, you never swoop in and take their role. This is called scabbing and I shouldn't have to explain why that's an atrocious thing to do.

Do 👏🏻 not 👏🏻 audition 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 roles👏🏻 being 👏🏻 recast They are being recast for a reason, and it is probably because the actor is holding the line or sharing solidarity. Times are tough, I know, but a strike is not the time to build your career. The community is small and word gets around fast.

Guys, if a non union game were to flip union… No, non-union actors *would not* be fired. More details in quoted thread, but basically: 1. NU actors can work on U video games. 2. Reddit is not a reliable source of info on the inner workings of video game contractual proceedings.

A reminder for folks: Taft-Hartleys are not just a SAG-AFTRA thing! The Taft-Hartley act of 1947 made them a thing for *all* US labor unions, so they can’t be removed from any one union’s processes. THs also made it possible for non-union people to work on Union projects, period. 🧵

*taps the sign with incomprehensible force* Any video game can bring back their FULL voice cast IMMEDIATELY during the strike, once they agree to enforceable AI protections via a SAG interim agreement, and the game CAN still keep its non-union actors after doing so.

If you’re just learnin about the video game strike, I wanna clarify a key detail I’ve seen get distorted a lot: Generally, the *developer* decides whether to sign an interim agreement, not the recording studio. Often, the studio is only a middleman. They do not set this term.

I can't emphasize this enough: Do not take the roles of striking actors. Don't fucking do it. Don't use "Well, someone is going to take it! Might as well be me!" as reasoning. You don't *need* to be the person who takes it. You're choosing to be a scab. Don't be a scab.

If you're a VA and you decide to take on a role that is being replaced because the previous actor is striking, you are not welcome on my talent roster. I expect every actor I present to clients to have honesty and integrity. If you take on struck work, you have neither.

Last week, two voice actors for Hoyoverse game Zenless Zone Zero were recast because they were withholding work due to the SAG-AFTRA Interactive strike. In these videos, we discuss what happened, why the actors chose to withhold work, and what all this has to do with the threat of AI. 1/3

As the SAG strike continues, be aware that many US projects may come to the UK to circumvent it. UK actors can’t legally step away from booked work, but for new auditions, be sure to ask questions of your auditions and make informed decisions. The fight for protections from AI is international!
