Today, September 14, in 1988, Dream escapes his imprisonment after being trapped for more than 70 years (The Sandman, “Preludes and Nocturnes”, @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com, 1989)

An illustrated comic book panel. It shows two older men speaking. One is reading a newspaper, the Sun, dated September 14, 1988. They are saying, “Boy, the old man is stroppy today. Anything happening, then?” The newspaper-reading man replies, “”Nah. Same old rubbish. I dunno why I buy it. Force of habit, I s’pose. That ’n’ page 3.”

A series of comic panels. They show men entering a sort of bubble, where a man so pale he’s paper-white lies passed out on the ground. He raises his head, with pitch-black eyes under black hair. He’s holding a handful of sand, which he blows forward.

In my continuing efforts to onboard Paradox colleagues, I've invited the brilliant @frathenoob.bsky.social to this place. She manages Crusader Kings marketing and has very strong opinions on Swedish pizza.
