Insane that democrats keep trying to cave on this issue rather than amplifying the fact that it’s being spearheaded by bigots and freaks

I've become one of these dads who buys berries by the pallet at the farmers market. Basically the little one's weekly consumption at this point.

I did a bit of research on this a while back, so here's my informed (but still speculative) opinion: - I really don't think he's a plant. - He seems to be coopting some of the language and ideas of the Effective Altruist (EA) community, which is flush with cash to donate to candidates they like.

I read his public disclosures, so I know most of Will Dreher's money comes from out of state, with a surprising number from folks at AI companies. What I don't know is whether Will Dreher is an industry plant. I have no idea if he is an industry plant. If he's an industry plant, I have no knowledge.

A couple of things I would add: 1. Parental controls are a good first line of defense but not all parents care or know how to implement them, so I don't think they are necessarily a complete substitute for robust defaults and primary (privacy-preserving) verification methods.

OH MY GOD EVERYBODY I just learned about reciprocard.com , which lets you enter your public library and find out all the places you can get a card on Libby. I had not known my Minuteman card actually gave me *every network in the state*, including the flawlessly-named CLAMS?!?!

I like this answer @hannahsabiohowell.bsky.social! I agree the heavy lift should be at the device level, and there are some good features being added to both iOS and Android to allow services to request a yes/no flag (or an age range for services that require a bit more granularity).

This is such a weird take. I haven't heard a single person frame this as punishing Balogun or sticking it to Trump. Yes it was clearly unintentional. It's also the kind of tackle that can end a career. Borderline red cards happen every day in leagues around the world and they don't get suspended.

This is horrific 😔 I walk and drive by this intersection all the time. One small thing I hate about this specific crosswalk is that the walk sign is completely obscured by a leaning utility pole, so you have to wait for cars to start turning into you to know that the walk sign is on.
