Rainbow Row. The most complete Georgian Street in the States in beautiful bright Caribbean colours. Urban legend has it that the colours allowed drunken sailors to find their lodgings. The truth is more about how a community comes together around an idea. Lovely to paint

Lock and Co hatters. Interesting fact hat makers are called milliners the word comes from the nearby company of Haberdashers who would import fancy lace and ribbon from Milan and so wher known as Milaners. Lock is 350 years old!

Acorn Street in Boston. Once one of the area poorest now perhaps the most photographed in the States. It looks pretty marvellous in autumnal watercolours.

Harvard in watercolour. Lowell House Interestingly the clock tower had bells saved from a Danilov Monastery in Moscow early in Soviet rule. They were returned to the church around 19 years ago and Russia made them new ones.

Pub goals. The Flask in Hampstead in watercolour. Strange name because Hampstead was a spa town and the pub used to sell flasks of water.

The Salters’ Hall in the city of London in watercolour. Powerful since the 1300’s. Salt was once really important for preserving food. The Salters’ Hall has a room with the feeling of a salt cave. Neat.

Next ones to paint. I am a bit excited because after these two I would have painted all the Oxford and Cambridge Colleges. I wonder if anyone has done that before?

Remember these hands from the Venice Biennale in 2017. A comment on sinking Venice with the hands holding the building up. Modelled on the artists 11 year old son. Makes for a great watercolour

The Stafford Hotel London, in watercolour. It holds a firm bond to the U.S. servicemen who stayed here. There is even a museum in the basement.

Beautiful facade or a bit OTT. Ruskin thought so and when structural engineers looks they found the facade was crumbling under its own sculptural weight. So some figures got removed. Makes for a great watercolour though.
