I am one of the millions who have discovered Heated Rivalry, a story about love and the courage to find yourself. Last week, I saw a social media prompt that asked "share something about yourself that HR ... made you love more (or love again, in a new way)." I was inspired to write. (1/2)

The poem reads: This is for the ones who overthought everything And couldn’t get their hair to match perfection For the ones who read under bedsheets with a flashlight Who made themselves small when they had big ideas The ones who papered their walls in beauty And journaled until the ink ran dry This is for the ones who had feelings bigger than the sky Who wore their fragile heart on their sleeve For the ones who felt they had to hide in the dark For the ones who waited quietly for the dawn The ones who waited patiently by a radio for their favourite song And poured their hearts into the perfect mixtape This is for the ones who cried during movies And laughed uncontrollably at inside jokes For the ones who hugged tight to their friends For the ones who longed for comfort The ones who struggled and went in spite of it Who danced in the rain and didn’t mind getting wet This is for the ones who were burned by first love Who were battle scarred, tender, and afraid For the ones who couldn’t get their favourite quotes out of their head And couldn’t put into words what their hearts knew Who thought they were too much but not enough And grew to find their sunshine anyway This is for you.
