This thread had no less than three TIL moments for me. Margarine used to be made from whale oil? WTF?

Fun* fact: The majority of the vast whaling fleets commissioned and operated by the Nazis in the Antarctic were built and operated by Unilever. "Almost drove the Blue Whale to extinction" is a corporate achievement they don't boast about as much as they did back then though. *Not fun.
