The decision of so many people to keep using X in its race-war phase has made me a bit more cynical overall about the ability to draw moral red lines. It’s beyond disappointing.

Me, waking up in a hotel room for 3am pee: "nghhhrghh" Wife, checking phone: "Lindsey Graham died, they just announced it" Me: "You do mean Mitch, right?" (repeat several times) Me, several hours later: "oh, that actually happened" (I've been having weird dreams lately. Can't be too careful)

I am so much more interested in hearing forward-looking thoughts about how we get 51 solid Senate votes against Trump nominees and for subpoenas, than in hearing I-told-you-sos and recriminations about the mess in Maine. Four months till the (latest) most important elections ever. Stay focused.

The highest form of patriotism is calling out the ways in which our nation isn't living up to its ideals. Here's to the anniversary of this speech, from just a few blocks away from the site where it happened. (It deserves a much better memorial.)

July 5, 1852, Frederick Douglass was invited to address citizens of his Rochester, NY on the 76th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Douglass used occasion to remind audience of the U.S.'s continuing enslavement of millions of people. This speech is often read July 4th.

Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if we'd had an actual campaign against Morelle, like with ads and campaigning and news coverage and stuff, and not just a gushing flood of dirty PAC money. I kinda miss democracy.

Handful of detainments here by the reflecting pool. They are being done a variety of officers, including Monroe County Sheriff, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma State Police, US Marshals, a county in Texas I can’t make out, and a county in New York I can’t make out.

I haven't been a journalist for a couple of years now, which has probably saved my mental health. But every year, I get to do some writing for @jazz901wgmc.bsky.social at the Rochester Int'l Jazz Festival, and it's always a nice reminder that I can still do this! www.facebook.com/share/p/1BRF...
