This evening, one adult male was shot by federal immigration enforcement agents in the 600 block of 24th Avenue North. He was transferred to a local hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries. We understand there is anger. We ask the public to remain calm.

ICE’s actions in Minneapolis this morning are abhorrent. ICE’s presence in the Twin Cities has done nothing but cause chaos and sew distrust, today’s shooting is a disgusting escalation. Our hearts are with our neighbors in South Minneapolis, there’s no such thing as an illegal person ❤️

We are aware of a shooting involving a federal agent at 34th Street and Portland. We are working to confirm additional information, but what we know is that the presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city and making our community less safe.
