This reinforces my idea I shared the other day. The focus should now on refining how to make it better, once you get there you can increase the speed and see productivity gains. I'm hoping that the time needed to get to the desired higher quality is enough for DX (main bottleneck) to catch up!

I don't buy into the future with very flat hierarchies and an unreasonable amount of direct reports (30+). When I hear this I only think that people don't understand what being a good lead means and the human aspect of it. How shallow will you be during growth review?

It's a shame some get a very wrong idea about engineering management because they had a really bad one. Now they think that's what the role is. I had bad ones too and they helped me learn the type of manager I didn't want to be. Good managers make a difference and I try my best to be one of those!

AI is only going to be more and more integrated with the development lifecycle. That is not a good reason to give up on juniors and I believe companies that stopped investing in them will regret it down the line.

The one thing I picked up joining a new company right at the beginning of COVID is being comfortable in zoom calls with plenty of strangers.

Every time I try to be more active online, I am reminded of how much content filtering I need to do. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but it is definitely tiring. Not sure how y'all do it.
