Retired librarian. Active participant of EarlyWord's GalleyChat, where a group of librarians meet virtually once a month to discuss forthcoming books.

Well, would you look at that? It's GalleyChat day, and I have another appointment! Sheesh, someday I'll be here in person! In the meantime, enjoy the show and I'll submit my titles later so they can appear on the GC compilation. See you all next month (maybe!) on August 6. #ewgc

I started Ashley Audrain's THE THINGS YOU'LL NEVER KNOW and was immediately absorbed, but will wait to finish closer to the pub date of Jan 2027. [Note: those of you who downloaded it a bit ago may have it on your Kindle/ereader as THE TRUTH.] #EWGC

As usual, I inhaled the next Beaumont mystery by JA Jance, THE TAKEN ONES (November), and was left with both happy and sad feelings -- happy because I was such a good story with it's usual array of appealing people, but sad because it will be two years before another one is published. #ewgc

Already one of my favorite books of the year is THE SINGLE GIRLS by John Searles (July). It's a marvelous look at Helen Gurley Brown and how she developed Cosmopolitan magazine into a powerhouse. Photo of me reading in my favorite salon. #ewgc

I know I'm a week or two late but I absolutely loved THE FOURSOME by Christina Baker Kline. Fascinating history and family. It was fun to go down a rabbit hole looking up photos and history. No wonder the women looked a little chagrined: 21 kids between the two of them! #ewgc

Allison Winn Scotch's THE INSOMNIACS is about four strangers who hang out at night, become interconnected, and then the story turns into a mystery. Due to be published in a couple of weeks, so watch for it. Readers who enjoy books by Cynthia Sweeney and even Emily Henry may want to read this. #ewgc

John Searles's SINGLE GIRLS (July) is a look at Helen Gurley Brown's life and how she turned Cosmopolitan into a force that remains strong. Searles has worked at Cosmo for years, so he knows what he's writing about. It's funny, heart-tugging & entertaining. #ewgc @librarylovefest

Due to PLA happening on the next scheduled GC day of April 2, we will postpone the chat until APRIL 9! Of course, I'll send reminders beforehand. Also happens I received a jury summons for April 2. #ewgc

I loved David Ellis's twisting thriller, LOOK CLOSER, and saw he has a new book coming in June, KEEP THEM CLOSE. It's high on my TBR list along with Linwood Barclay's next book, NOT A WORD, coming in August. #ewgc

So here me out on this. ENTER THE VILLA by Anna Peele is a revealing look at life on the Love Island reality show. Yes, sad to say I was addicted to this series & want to read this. However, this could be a good readalike for those who read COMPOUND that involves a Love Island-type show. #ewgc

Kelly Rimmer's THE STORY KEEPER (July) has one of my favorite tropes in a gothic novel: A young woman returns to a family manse and tries to solve an age-old secret. Sounds perfect for us Kate Morton fans. #ewgc

Willy Vlautin's THE LEFT AND THE LUCKY (April) is an amazing novel full of Willy's superb writing that gets right to the heart of the characters' personalities and issues. A complex book that resonates with anyone who has (or has known anyone) had a tough time with life. #ewgc

I'm busy getting ready for a garage sale, so I don't have much time to post, but I will list the books (with covers) I'm eager to read, or have read. First up, CLEANUP ON AISLE FIVE Ann Larson (June) was fantastic and a book everyone who shops in a grocery store should read. #ewgc

Well, I have to get back to my garage sale work. I'll be back for the chat if I finish. We changed the date for the April chat to April 9 as PLA happens on April 2, plus I have jury duty (maybe). Have fun! #ewgc
