The UK’s LGBT+ anti-abuse charity. We support all LGBT+ victims/survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse. We're run by LGBT+ people, for LGBT+ people. 🌈🏳️‍⚧️ P.S. We delete comments that encourage hatred or harm

As LGBT+ people, we deserve to live authentically as ourselves, free from abuse and violence 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ Galop is here to support anyone who has been made to feel unsafe because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Sexual violence can take many forms, and sometimes our sexual orientation and/or gender identity may be used as part of the abuse. So-called 'corrective' rape or sexual assault can be used as an attempt to change or suppress LGBT+ people's identity. Sometimes it can be motivated by anti-LGBT+ hate.

Everyone processes traumatic events differently, and there is no 'one way' to feel after experiencing abuse or violence. For some people, experiencing abuse or violence can have a deep and lasting impact. Sometimes that impact can be felt soon after the experience, and sometimes it can be delayed.

right or wrong way to feel after experiencing abuse or violence.

The need for specialist LGBT+ hate crime support is clear, but we don't have funding to do this Helpline work. Donations like yours help us be here for LGBT+ victims and survivors when they need us. No one should have to face abuse or violence alone. Donate £10 today at galop.org.uk/donate.

A quote from an LGBT+ survivor of sexual violence which shares how: being an LGBT+ survivor immediately others me. I'm not just a victim of sexual violence, I'm an LGBT+ version of that. Will I first have to educate this person who is supposed to be helping me? Will they question whether I am even a victim at all?

Technology has the power to create places where freedom and connection can thrive. Digital spaces can be lifesaving for members of our community. But online spaces can also be used to target, harass, and abuse LGBT+ people.
