👉INTERREG NEBA project Stakeholder Meeting, April 2026 This meeting brought together GCC, academia, industry, and new partners to discuss progress on the Galway City Infill Strategy, learnings from the study exchange in March hosted by Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and potential future study exchanges.
GCC unveiled a civic commemoration last week honouring Dr Arthur Colahan (1885–1952), composer of the infamous ‘Galway Bay'. Although Arthur Colahan spent much of his professional life as a medical specialist in England, he never lost his connection to Galway, where he is buried.
Beach reminder 🌊 Dogs are not permitted on beaches or in the water from 9am–8pm (May–September). Outside these hours, dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash and under control. Thanks for helping keep our beaches safe and enjoyable for everyone.

GCC unveiled a new civic commemorations last week, honouring Tommy Keane (1968 – 2012). The soccer pitch in Laurel Park was officially named ‘Páirc Tommy Keane’ - commemorating the life and legacy of a footballer widely regarded as one of the most talented players of his generation in Galway City.
