Anecdotally, everyday PlayStation fans don't seem to care about physical games compared to Nintendo fans. Despite what the online screaming would have you believe. I struggle to sell PS5 games in cases from even the last 1-2 years at $10-20. Loose Nintendo cartridges ($40-50) fly out of my hands.
The big arena battle at the end of Cai's chapter 5 (not a spoiler, arena battles are how most chapters end) was one of my favorite parts of the game so far. Looking forward to more of that! #FireEmblem #FortunesWeave
This second run is not for the weak! The gap between the first save room and the second save room felt like a LONG time haha ... even though it wasn't really that many rooms in reality.

The Resident Evil and Street Fighter movies will have released within 28 days of each other (September 18th and October 16th) It's not just a good YEAR for Capcom movies ... it's a good MONTH for them! 😆

I'd say Microsoft learned the wrong lessons from Nuts & Bolts. People aren't opposed to Banjo experimenting with other genres. It was just such a specific mismatch for the IP and the game relentlessly mocked itself for it. Genres that would have been fun: - side-scroller - RPG (Mario & Luigi style)

My relationship with gaming is almost exclusively handheld these days. For Nintendo, that's pretty much the default. I've gone through a few different configurations for PS5, but my favorite form currently is the Backbone controller combined with the Team Asobi app for PS plus cloud streaming.
Sometimes you just need to replay a level or two from Astro Bot to soothe the soul (also how is this game already 2 years old!)
I'm moving through Fortune's Weave at a snail's pace despite playing it a lot. I think I'm going to be realistic with myself and maybe try to just do a full Act 1/2/3 path (and see if I can pull it off!) before deviating to the other 3 characters. I'd rather replay the game than never finish it.

The tension/look/feel/monsters were 100% RE game energy. Writing was a lil' cheesy but I'll forgive it 😆

Portal 2 is truly legendary. It is the rare game that's over 15 years old and: - doesn't need a sequel - doesn't need a remake - doesn't need a remaster It's a fun game that still looks great, plays great, has top-tier voice acting, slick pacing, and a perfect ending. It's over and better for it.
Video game adaptations are really taking off. There are several at least good ones per year now, it seems. Any ones you'd like to see now that the prospect of your favorite game getting turned into a movie/show isn't automatically a curse/joke now? I would rather see a Portal movie than Portal 3.

I had a nightmare where I had to write, direct, act in, and edit a short movie with a group of people from work ... for no apparent reason ... and it was very high pressure / high stakes (I am a data analyst, for context haha)
Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave: I really like the "blaze arts" mechanic where you intentionally sacrifice some hp to do a bigger-than-usual attack. Sometimes it's absolutely not worth doing this, but sometimes it's your best tactic.

GameCube Jake@gamecubejake.bsky.social · 3d agoFortune's Weave is already my favorite Fire Emblem game that I've ever tried (and I'm nowhere close to finishing yet) There are just so many little gameplay tweaks that make it click better for me. Also enjoying this mix of characters in the story too.
Also, my 6-year-old was watching me play very intently, and I'm happy to report that today's young children still get antsy about Snacker the Shark appearing out of nowhere and chasing you haha "DAD! Swim FASTER! GET OUT OF THE WATER!" - my kid haha

Likewise, don't let anybody ever make you feel bad for sticking to a handful of your favorite series when it comes to the new games you spend your hard-earned money on. For example, there are so many good Metroidvanias out there, but for me, nothing quite hits like a proper Metroid or Castlevania.

This is all perceived as "normal". So don't forget to revisit your favorite video games too, and it's ok if you buy less games each year as a result.
