Progress on the iBook G3 clamshell. I've managed to get the newest build on Debian that boots on this installed, fixed the package repository, updated the certificates and managed to curl neofetch from the HTTPS source.

I'm doing more PPC things, the newest Debian I could get to boot on this iBook G3 is ver 8.11.0, doing base install 1st. I've also another project; I'm building a bootable version of a lightweight Linux distro. Currently compiling the iBook G3 PPC kernel from latest sources.
Windows NT 3.51 - Shell Technology Preview (also known as NewShell) [1995] *An official update released in 1995 that backport the Windows Explorer shell and the new control style from pre-release versions of Windows 95 to a stock installation of Windows NT 3.51.*
Apple iBook G4 - Linux; I've now got Quake 3 to work! 😍
GeForce4 Ti 4200 vs GeForce4 MX 440 Benchmarks. I'm surprised at how well the MX 440 did tbh!
Been doing a bit of tidying in my workshop today, I found this dusty, discarded Windows tablet. I managed to get MX Linux installed on it and I'm surprised how snappy it is with limited RAM (2GB). Not sure where the keyboard is, but I got the touchscreen and rotation sorted 👍
iBook G3 "Clamshell" Tangerine (1999) Next modern Linux challenge? 🤔
Random Friday Mission Complete ✅ 20 Year Old iBook G4 ✅ Debian 14 ✅ Linux Kernel 7.1.5 ✅ WiFi ✅ Accelerated Video
I'm compiling the Mesa 21.3.9 Amber branch to build legacy classic DRI drivers (r200_dri.so) for the ATI Radeon R200 in this iBook G4. Modern Linux might have dropped classic DRI support, but custom builds save the day. Goodbye llvmpipe, hello hardware acceleration! 🛠️🐧💻
Happy Friday folks, I'll be mostly testing a bunch of Nvidia AGP cards tonight (as well as trying to get accelerated video working on my iBook G4 Debian install). Whatever you're up to have a good one and awesome weekend 👍
Sucky day today, lost a 1TB SSD with retro stuff on, then my NAS with the backup also died (hopefully not the drives). So I'm gonna just sit here and stare out the window for a while before the sun goes down. 😞
Today marks 20 years since Intel's Core 2 Duo launched, here's a MacBook2,1 powered by the same CPU, back when Apple was making the switch over.
Well, surprisingly the AppleCD 300e Plus reads burned disks, which is cool 📀 I've never played Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis on a Mac before, so let's go......🤠
- Apple Macintosh LCIII+ (33Mhz / 36MB RAM / 160MB SCSI HDD) - Mac OS System 7.5 - After Dark 2.0 - Flying Toasters with Sound
Gateway 2000 P5-120 (1995), I rescued and refurbished this last summer, such a fun project!
Good news, my external SCSi AppleCD 300e Plus works (just had to clean the laser), also can confirm it's Panasonic 📀👍 *Excuse the mess* ☺️
I have some good free time today, so I'm trying to repair a Varta battery bombed Socket 4 motherboard today, what a beautiful looking CPU 😍
What else would I be doing on a Friday night? Installing Windows NT 3.51 from 22x floppy disks onto nearly 40 year old SCSI drive 🤓
Getting closer to escaping the Matrix each and every day. 😂
Got a new toy: AppleCD 300e Plus (SCSI External CD-ROM)
