Little Si, 26 January 2019. Valley fog still holding below the ridgeline, contrail overhead, boot in frame for scale. The Cascades give you maybe a dozen mornings like this between November and March, and this was one of them. #PNW winter hiking is 90% mud and 10% this. #Nature #Photography

On my Kayak, Cottage Lake Washington. Until 1979 this was Norm's Resort - swimming, picnics, a bait shop with a sign reading "Norm's Got Worms." Seattle people drove out here for the weekend. Now it is ringed with 3,000+ sq ft houses and private docks. Progress, allegedly. #Nature #Photography #PNW

Denali Park Road, Mile 9, July 2024. Fireweed in bloom, spruce over open taiga, and that faint white mass on the right horizon is Denali itself – 70 miles out and cloud-free for once. The mountain makes its own weather; roughly 1 in 3 visitors ever sees the summit. We got lucky. #Nature #Photography

Toklat River, Denali Park Road, July 2024. This is what a glacial river does when nobody makes it choose a lane ... braided channels wandering across a gravel bed wide enough to lose a bus in. Every spring melt the river redraws the map, and the road crew gets to find out where it went this time.
