endlessly disappointed

we don't have nearly enough progressives fighting hard for the kinds of policy changes that support families. Universal free childcare, UBI, universal parental leave. We leave it to the conservatives to discuss and then the conversation becomes a very different and much more condescending one

it frankly is kind of taboo to discuss these questions on the left, but this piece also doesn't get into the actual most promising policy ideas (limiting smartphone and social media use to the greatest possible extent) www.npr.org/2026/01/12/n...

So when authorities say “she tried to run over an officer,” that is not a neutral description. It is a claim of intent that can be used to justify lethal force after the fact. When the state kills first and invents the threat afterward, it is not policing, it is death squad behavior. /end

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

For my newsletter, I took a deeper look at the electoral record of WelcomePAC, a centrist group that produced that 352 page document advising Democrats to moderate once again. Turns out the campaigns they work for aren't winning. www.burnsnotice.com/fire-the-con...

The Democratic party must move on from the same old stale, carefully poll-tested politics and get back to solving voters' problems. There are only three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Democra...
