July 29, 2026 🌱 White vervain — the more recently transplanted one. I tried to photograph it but couldn’t capture the cascading fountain of flowerstalks. Green-on-green is hard to see. Then I lucked into this shot, late at night, with the help of a neighbor’s car headlights.

July 26, 2026 🌱 I read that prairie petunias are avid self-seeders. But for a long while, all I had was the plants I planted myself and the sidewalk-crack seedling. Then out of nowhere, a bumper crop of volunteers arrived. I hope to see these lovelies all over in a few years.

June 29, 2026 🌱 The elder Virginia mountain mint in bloom. The recently transplanted Virginia mountain mint suffered a setback, of the something-chewed-through-it’s-stem variety, but it appears to be still alive and hopefully will rebound.

Yes, there’s frost damage, but for once the bunnies haven’t annihilated the dill plants entirely. So it’s going well. Knock on wood that the bunnies don’t figure out how to jump into a raised pot 🐇
