I read, code (Prater Raines), learn, father, game, wander & wonder. I'm often found at online tech events when I should be working/studying.

Sounds like making difficult decisions and having big ideas may be about to make a comeback, along with social democracy, in Government. It'll be nice to move away from selfish greed, complaining everything's broken, blaming the wrong people, then applying policies that will just make things worse.

Email from the LGA Lib Dem group with a paragraph that didn't quite sit right: "In a letter to local government leaders, they have also set out a commitment to reform the highest cost services – adult and children's social care, homelessness, and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) –

After the WoW/D&D leak, here's some potential MTG Universes Beyond sets that would have me throwing money at WotC - Cosmere, Malazan Empire, Dragonlance, Ravenloft, Dark Sun, Midkemia/Kelewan, Pern, Wheel of Time, Recluce, Westeros, Broken Earth, and First Law. There are many, many more...

Two thoughts on the VAT cut for electricity. 1) Darren Jones seems to be more loyal to Starmer than to the Labour Party (or just a really sore loser). 2) I suspect those on prepayment metres will feel it more as they pay for their electricity when they use it rather than spreading the cost.

Andy Burnham's first speech as PM was quite positive. The Beeb's deconstruction of every sentence while bleating about where the money is going to come from has totally drawn all the fun out of it.

Just seen the new sets announced at MagicCon Amsterdam and I'm genuinely excited for all three. Curious to see if the Universes Beyond sets will even register in my psyche when they're announced.

The DfE are a problem in this situation. The threat that schools will be penalised for closing to protect children (through lower attendance statistics) needs addressing. No-one wants schools closed but it is the DfE's responsibility as much as schools' to act. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

James Cleverly on Sky talking about needing to cut the welfare budget of £320 billion by getting people into work, conveniently ignoring the fact 55-58% of that budget is spent on pensioners.

I've a feeling that WotC have reduced the likelihood of getting Mythics in Marvel Super Heroes. Maybe it's opening a play booster with two copies of Super Hero Civil War in it that has made me wonder, or perhaps having opened 11 play boosters without a single Mythic (for the first time in 5 years).

I'm no defence hawk but, given the current occupant of the White House and Russia's aggression in Ukraine, I cannot believe Labour is trying the same sleight of hand with Defence spending that Boris did with hospitals. Perhaps the senior hierarchy at the Treasury needs replacing?
