We’re experiencing a shift in the Comics Industry. There’s new talent emerging, established talent leveling up, new publishers and imprints in the mix, an influx of product and stories available, and a new generation of retailers really changing how comic shops are run, perceived, & supported.
My two most engaged with threads have been asking where femme mtg players meet to play in LA (and being told by a lot of dudes that they’ve seen women before at their LCGs) and it being Waffle Bar Week at the office. And this picture of my cat after being sedated for being “too spicy” at the vet.

There is literally no reason to CGC Grade manga unless that manga was produced in a single issue format like Viz used to do back in the 90s before the tankobon trade style was adopted, and you’re doing it to preserve the format. And even then, I’m gonna raise an eyebrow if it’s of interest now.
I didn’t make it out to #FCBD this year for personal reasons, but I do hope folks continue to support their local comic shops year round. Place preorders, inquire about new series, ask for recommendations — your #localcomicshop has you covered!

There’s a ton of great anime this season, but Nippon Sangoku has really stood out on all counts (animation, storytelling, voice acting, soundtrack, etc.) and goes SO hard.

We have been describing A Starlit Darkness as BL-adjacent. Given the author’s previous BL hit (Cherry Magic!) and the tone, it’s one to check out, especially if you’re looking for something with a much darker tone.

Comic Marketing comes in 2 forms: 1. Look at this ✨cool, new title✨!! 2. Becoming an octopus, answering emails, solving 9 emergency situations, coordinating multiple items, photoshop warlock, social media, meetings, and desperately trying to eat half of a chicken caesar wrap for the last 4 hours.

The industry both WANTS and NEEDS sales charts. They aren’t just to see what’s selling so folks can high five about high numbers. They are a CRUCIAL tool for marketing and sales folks to determine marketability, key selling points, & provide accurate comp titles to allow newer or debut titles (1/2)
