Step back for sec and ask if a serious nation lets a domestic abuse situation of a member of govt dominate the news cycle day after day. Remove him and let the family deal with it. We have other problems.

If I ever finish this book, my view will align with this, though I will be arguing that to the extent that we are a free society at the founding, the creation of certain types of church institutions (protestant) plays a big role in that.

1. Scholar of religion and theology here. I teach a course on Christian nationalism and American politics every year at KU. While I appreciate this thread, I would argue that America *is* a Christian nation—but specifically for the reasons identified by Matthew Avery Sutton in his new book.

Unclear, given *all of this*, why this is perplexing. I take no position on the wars merging, but the idea that leaders in the US are helping kill or actively killing Americans should be fairly easy to swallow at this point. Trump’s first war is against the American people.

The idea that the Russia-Ukraine War and the US-Iran War are merging into one global conflict is perplexing. The US is siding with Russia even as Russians help Iranians kill American soldiers. So the new global war would have to involve the USA helping others kill Americans.

Academics who write during term (i.e. while teaching): 1. How many classes do you teach per term? 2. How often do you write (e.g. once/wk, when you can, etc.)? 3. When do you write (e.g. weekend, morning, at night, etc.)? 4. What's the biggest barrier(s) to you writing? 5. Do you have any tips?

Yes, but I don't understand why we don't talk also about the gross inequalities of the US Senate. At least consider weighting the votes of Senators according to population. No less than James Madison would agree with this.

Kamala Harris: I know this is going to be controversial coming from me in particular, we need to revisit the electoral college. We need to revisit the point of expanding the court. We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.

I've given up trying to use citation managers. They don't seem to sync up well across the various types of platforms, sometimes even disappearing altogether in onedrive. The most reliable things seems to be to type them myself.

It’s amazing to me that so many Americans just hate other people. Women, children, anyone with dark skin or different religious beliefs. Or anyone that doesn’t hate these people.

One of the biggest issues in any forthcoming reconstruction has to be the reduction of the wealth and income gaps. The sort of wealth that has been built in the last couple decades can stifle a democratic order for centuries. Billionaires won't go away unless we make them.
