I DO like how they wrote the G while misspelling my name. Also just for the record, the food inside the bag was the worst garbage I've ever put in my mouth. My former go-to meal from one of my former go-tos, and I couldn't even finish half of it. 😭

"You see that weird box up there?" "Where?" "Right up there on the cliff." "Where?" "I CAN'T POINT, DAVE, JUST LOOK WHERE I'M NODDING." "Okay, okay, what about it?" "There are 176 people all over the world watching us right now through that." "...man, get the heck out of here." "IT'S TRUE."

When you're depressed, everyone is all "go take a shower, you'll feel better after a shower, just take a shower." And you know what? They're not wrong.
I finished writing the Patreon for August, which is always a relief. This time it was a request from a patron! That's not a perk, but I'm always willing to take requests, especially on months when the gears aren't gearing. 😁
Just a PSA... if Apple TV (and most streaming services) says a show is premiering August 5, it's almost guaranteed that it'll be available August 4 at 8pm (central time). I know Apple does it, Prime definitely does it. But for anyone looking for tonight's entertainment...

Did I pick up this book based almost entirely on the cover? Yes, I did. But it had an interesting premise, and I'm glad I took a chance! It's really great. "Ours are minuscule heroes. Minuscule acts. That’s all we do. Almost completely useless acts of tiny heroic resistance."
The WPBL season has officially begun! If you need a book to kill time between games, may I humbly suggest my alternate reality novel THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN where this all happened way back in 1914? Women playing baseball, and also falling in love with each other. www.amazon.com/dp/B09V92C7DB

Y'all want some small town corruption? Last year, Yukon approved to pay $90k for three signs (we didn't need) for Route 66's stupid anniversary. They chose a local company where a member of the planning committee happened to be employed. The price tag suddenly became $160,000 for ONE ugly-ass sign.
I can't believe Mitch McConnell died tomorrow. I just saw a picture of him in his favorite red shirt, smiling, laughing, not a care in the world.
People talking about school starting up again, students going back, Spirit Halloween is up and running in my town... all these people trying to convince me the hot is almost over and the cool is just around the corner when I KNOW August is four full weeks (and then some) this year...

Paget Brewster as Frankie Dart on Community, a humble outsider that came in and nailed it.
Who is your favorite (if you have one) “Cousin Oliver,” that is a kid added to a show late in its run?
I've seen a lot of people pitting Hamilton against Hadestown, but having seen and absolutely loved both, I don't know how you can even compare them. The only thing they have in common is a spinning stage, which they use in totally different ways. Either way, I'm really glad we got both. 😁

Sometimes I'll think of when my publisher visited, and I very firmly pointed out to her that Oklahoma IS NOT that flat, we have hills and variations and it can actually be quite hilly in places!! And then we went to a restaurant with a view that ruined everything.
This just happened in a book I was reading (Femme Feral by Sam Beckbessinger) where she revealed she used ChatGPT to write AI responses in scenes to show how stupid AI was. "I wanted to show what kind of gibberish it spews out." You couldn't make up GIBBERISH...?
So, ok, a thing about telling yr audience "i use AI for my info gathering/research but then I look over it and fix any errors" is that you unfortunately told me youve outsourced your knowledge base on this subject to the machine, and therefore I have no reason to believe you CAN catch those errors
Good news, we're not prosecuting a guy on made-up charges for a crime anyone with eyes knew didn't happen. I wish him luck in his eventual ginormous lawsuit.
WELL NO FUCKING SHIT, SHERLOCK. "The Justice Department moved to dismiss criminal charges against former Olympian David Hearn in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool case, saying new evidence points to a contractor's 'flawed installation' — not vandalism."
Oookay and that's officially the first time I've stopped watching a #StrangeNewWorlds episode and just read a recap. I'm sure it was a fine episode for the right person, just one thousand percent not for me. An episode I never need to watch in full.
I live very close to Oklahoma City's major airport, so I see a LOT of planes coming in for landings. I've discovered I can use a website called FlightAware to figure out what flight I just saw in real time. Welcome to OKC, SkyWest coming in from LAX.
Hot day, at the store, saw a bottle of lemonade. "That would hit the spot!" Bought it... The $1 cup I got from some kids on the street a few weeks ago was vastly superior.

I had a dream last night that I got to see Hadestown live. The main thing I remember was that in this cast, Hades was played by a tall, butch lesbian. Short black hair, pinstripe suit, lacy blouse. The only scene I remember is her sitting on the stool and smirking as she said, "Oh, it's about *me*."
"Some birds sing when the sun shines bright My praise is not for them But the one who sings in the dead of night I raise my cup to him"
"Won't it be dull when we rid ourselves of all these demons haunting us to keep us company?"
I feel like the universe knew what was up with me today and delivered multiple gifts to raise the general mood. The downside is that none of them worked.
Still thinking about Hadestown a day later... pretty sure the Fates were my favorite character(s).
Getting published with my own writing was obviously the peak, but branching off that to write for Stargate and now Warren Zevon is frosting on the cake I didn't even know to hope for. Proud to have my name in this anthology! Hope they keep me in mind for any potential volume 2! 😁
