Day two shifted from data to research design. We learned about HTML parsing, enabling analysis of not only URLs and digital traces but also website content. Frank Mangold then introduced structured web-tracking study designs within the GESIS Panel.dbd framework and a helpful idea starter.
On Day 1 we kicked off the workshop with a deep dive into the GESIS Panel.dbd infrastructure. Together we explored how the panel is recruited and structured, how web tracking data are collected, and how digital traces like URLs, timestamps, and HTML are generated and stored.
Last week, the GESIS Panel.dbd Insight Days brought together 18 researchers to explore how web tracking and survey data can be combined for social science research. Over the next two posts, we’ll share key insights from both workshop days. Stay tuned!
