Amoura

A dating app designed for trans women first. Anti-fetishization built into the product, not bolted on. UK beta opening 2026 ↓ amouraapp.co.uk

Genuinely understand why it reads that way. the only way i can counter that is by what gets built and who shapes it. If the app ends up centring cis men's access over trans people's safety then that criticism was right. but that's not what i'm building

The app is open to all trans people, trans men included. 'designed for trans women' was about the safety features being built around their specific experiences but you're right that the framing excludes people it shouldn't. This is just the first draft so there's many changes still to be made.

so based on the fact that this is very obviously the feds, the picture here saying 'designed for trans women' rather than 'trans people' further supports my theory that the right is entirely unaware trans men exist

I want to genuinely thank everyone who has personally reached out to me so far and took the time to share their advice. It means more than I can say, and I don't take your patience for granted. The fact you've given me the benefit of the doubt given the circumstances isn't lost on me.

You're right to flag Persona — that's on me for not realising it sooner. Their funding is a legitimate concern and they're out. Switching to Yoti, which verifies age without requiring government ID — something that actually matters here.

If I was making an app for trans women I might not have gone with the company founded by noted hyper-right-wing transphobic death cultist Peter Thiel but what do I know, I’m just a trans woman

Everyone's replies raised real concerns about mandatory ID verification — particularly from trans users who've been burned by "verification" on other apps. That's on me for not addressing it clearly in the launch posts, not on anyone for raising it. Quick clarification ↓

I'm a cis man building a trans-first dating app called Amoura. I know how that lands. Worth saying upfront before any of the rest. The short version of what I'm building below.
