If you have any grasp of internet message board troll culture in the last 25+ years, all of this makes sense. People like this hate their lives & themselves & only exist to spread misery to all they can reach. To either annoy, or even go so far as to doxx people. They are malevolent to their core.

Bluesky's nuclear block supports a culture of consent. Each user can completely prevent another user from having any access to them on this site. Right wing harassers on X hate consent. They hate being told "no." They hate not being able to force their posts onto others and target others.

When I was surprised at how Target grossly miscalculated who their consumer base was and subsequently shot themselves in the foot as a result, it seems as if that delusion is contagious in c-suite types. If Bluesky execs are thinking of trying this, they don't understand their users at all.

With all of their actions, the people behind these companies are saying: "We will dictate the terms of what facts, history, and truth are. We are the arbiters of reality. 'We have always been at war with Eastasia.'"-type shit. You can tell that they read dystopian fiction as instruction manuals.

This episode was ridiculously good. This year-long Kawhi & Aspiration saga is capital-J journalism with theatrics as a chocolatey coating. Being curious, being dogged in your follow-up, and pounding the pavement are tenets of the craft that will always work. New Media journalism is pretty rad.
