"God is the garden I tend to believe" Day job: Design Systems Making https://biscuits.club (apps for your family) and https://verdant.dev (framework for the same)

May have reached a breaking point at work. I'm going to see how much of our core product's frontend I can rebuild from scratch. I know it's not a good response to dysfunction or a long term strategy, but I have this sense that if I do a good enough job I can shock the system in the right way.

Someone who thinks they have some exclusive insight in one thing begins to act that way about increasingly mundane opinions in unrelated topics. Best to just practice believing in things with space for being wrong in all areas to avoid that cross-contamination.

Supergirl was pretty disappointing. Felt like a lack of trust in the audience to follow along led to gradually gutting or reversing the main points of the comic inspiration across the board. I know WoT is controversial but I did really like it personally. Not much of what I liked survived.

At work we have 3 legacy design systems in use and the third was only half built before rollout due to resource constraints (team of 5). Some components languish for months in the backlog. At home I just finished my 6th rewrite of my design system and am rolling it out to 5 different apps.

My first dinner fail in a while. Supposed to be padakjeon... Looks like somewhere between condensed chicken soup and aspic. All the browned bits remained on the pan... had made a double portion so tried the other half in the wok. Fared better (and nailed a wok flip).

A pan full of very gross looking chicken mushA wok with a recognizably browned, thick pancake thing

I have enjoyed Mina even as a player with low tolerance for frustration (most annoyances yielded after a short bit of grinding), but I will say their movement mechanics absolutely did not justify the final boss platforming run-up.

This is actually an interesting thread to pull (embodiment) in particular about emotional experience. I can't imagine what being angry means without raised blood pressure, e.g. If anything speculate what emotion might mean to an awareness running on silicon. What is "CPU cache miss" as emotion

ok so apparently AI antis just put out a big paper claiming AI can't be conscious because it's not embodied that's mixing up your terms. AI can't be *person-like* because it's not embodied. consciousness is a different thing! consciousness is about sensation! I also think it doesn't have that!

I'm going through the 60ish components of my personal design system and converting from utility CSS to my new CSS thing. I guess in theory I should write an agent skill for this but, as long as it's taking, it feels more like the payoff of building this tool is getting to use it.
