also, my understanding is that the US senate will be voting on the SAVE ACT/ SAVE AMERICA ACT -TOMORROW- (saturday the 20th) so PLEASE call and yell at your reps about that one specifically literally right now

Jesus fucking holy hell. This is what you should get loud about. If you have any Republican representatives, call them now -and repeatedly. Do what you can to stop this from passing. This is a nightmare.

While the SAVE Act focuses almost exclusively on requiring voters to produce documentary proof of citizenship when registering, the MEGA Act is far more sweeping. It would: • Impose a strict photo ID requirement to vote, • create a centralized voter surveillance system in every state, • mandate constant voter roll purges, gutting the "Motor Voter" law that expanded access to voter registration • bar states from counting ballots that arrive after Election Day, • ban universal mail voting, in which states mail a ballot to all registered voters • bar the federal funding for voter registration by outside groups, • and unleash lawsuits against election officials - all at once.
