🌱 Plant of the Week🌱 is the Papaver somniferum (opium poppy). They are currently in bloom around the Stable Yard which is also filled with hollyhocks and lanceleaf tickseed. Its looking stunning.

Plant of the Week 🌱 Found in the herb garden is Isatis tinctoria (dyer's woad) a blue dye is made from the leaves!

Plant of the Week 🌱 Purple crabapple Malus x purpura has been blossoming in our 6 quarters. They are a good pollinator for early flowering apples and originated at a Babier Nursery in Orleans, before 1900. This is one of the earliest crabs to flower.

On Saturday we were honoured to host Jenny Uglow as she told us about Gilbert White and her new book 'A Year with Gilbert White'. 📖 We had a sold out barn, thanks to everyone who came along!

On Tuesday our new Exhibition 'Elements of Landscape' opened. 🪾 The exhibition features the work of artist John Hitchens from the 1960s to today. John visited us to see his work in situ and sign a couple of his books for the gift shop!

According to research there has been a worrying decline in the garden bird population due to a disease called trichomonosis. JOHN HITCHENS – Elements of Landscape Our new Exhibition opens next week! The exhibition complements a book of the same title. It shows additional material not featured in the monograph, including new work, drawings and examples from the artist’s sketchbooks.
