A newt-ron is a subatomic particle, that has no electric charge. 🦎 Tell that to this newt. Called Ron. 🐝 This particular Octopus Electroverse card has been used to rescue a bee, a newt, and charge an electric car (once). Who knew that RFID cards could be so versatile?! @octopus.energy

🚀 Loved attending the launch of Xpeng in the UK. ⚡️ About that flying car… the X2 is already on sale in China, with deliveries due to start next year. It won’t come to the UK anytime soon. 🇬🇧 The good news? The Xpeng G6 EV is now officially on sale in the UK.

My ten year old daughter has grown up with #EVs being her norm. So no surprise when she said out of the blue: “Wow! Year after next we’ll able to say ‘in three years’ time we won’t be able to buy a new petrol or diesel car.’” We all deserve to breathe clean air. 📸 How to hug an electric car, 2018

Woo hoo! The winner of the What Car? Car of the Year award… the all-electric Renault 5. It oozes with nostalgia, and a very friendly range of up to 253 miles (52kWh battery). And starting from around £22,000, it errs on the side of affordability - another win.

All carmakers in UK to escape fines for missing electric car sales targets in 2024. All car makers, with one exception, sold enough cars, or can use ‘flexibilities’, to avoid fines under the zero-emissions vehicle (ZEV) mandate. The ZEV Mandate is working. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Analysts say use of ‘flexibilities’ to avoid penalties shows that zero-emissions mandate does not need to be relaxed

We all deserve to breathe clean air. This is the main reason that I have advocated for the uptake of zero tailpipe emission vehicles, pretty much on a daily basis, since 2012. Are there really any valid counter arguments to the fact that we all deserve to breathe clean air? I can’t think of any.

“In five years, electric cars will have taken over” my ten year old daughter sagely informed me. Her statement was entirely unprompted. She knows about the 2030 date - it’s been a topic of discussion in our house for years. I love that electric cars are her norm. No living in the ICE age for her.

❄️ Jack Frost be gone No need to plug in. Just activate climate control remotely via the app, and within minutes the car is ready to drive - clear windows and toasty warm cabin. This is definitely my favourite remote function right now. Stay cosy and safe everyone. ICE 0 EV 1

On-street charging comes in many sizes. I took this photo on one of my regular running routes. The charging cable is covered and clearly visible. As a pavement plodder, it didn’t present itself as a trip hazard to me. It may to others. How do you view this - is it an acceptable charging solution?

⛽️ Queuing is a fuel’s game. I reckon the cars at the back will need to wait between 15-20 minutes to nozzle up with petrol or diesel, depending on how long each person ahead of them spends in the shop. 🔋 That’s the same of time I’ve queued at #EV chargers in over a decade of driving electric cars.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 I’ve just spent a day or two driving a Tesla Model Y around rural North Wales, on miles of single track roads. In a car like the Model Y, setting off with 300 miles of range, it would be a challenge to run out of charge. Didn’t even need to use the destination charger we found the next day.

6️⃣ pens on my desk 0️⃣ working pens on my desk Proving the point that quality, not quantity, counts (says she, off to find a pen that works). 🖊️ Every pen tells a story.

Confessions of an electric car driver. After four years of driving my Kia e-Niro, I’ve only just found the button to manually heat the steering wheel. Obviously this is slightly embarrassing, so it would help enormously if you could share any similar revelations. Thank you. #electricvehicles

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 One of the originals. Love seeing these Zero Carbon World electric car chargers in good working order. This Anglesey hotel was ahead of the game a few years ago. But… time for an upgrade. We counted six #EVs amongst the 24 in the car park. Chargers will soon be a prerequisite at destinations.

Electric car drivers are deranged. Or are they? Loss of range in cold weather varies from car to car - all types. Summer range in my Kia e-Niro often exceeds WLTP of 282 miles. Winter range…? Not doing badly at all. Pretty much 270 miles fully charged. I’d usually expect around 250.

Never an idle moment in an electric car… Keeping toasty on school run. Did you know…? 💨 An idling engine can produce up to twice as many emissions as an engine in motion 🚬 Idling an engine for 1 minute produces as much carbon monoxide as smoking three packs of cigarettes Please don’t be idle 🙏
