Our children have been creating their interpretations of Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’. Children were intrigued by the swirls and have gone on to research the word swirl. They have been exploring different ways to make swirls 🍥 from a human Spirograph, wax, sand and a variety of techniques #YoungArtists

I love seeing these happy smiling faces, it had been fantastic to have everyone back filling the nursery with love laughter and fun 🥰 #Friendships

It has been lovely welcoming back our children & families after the festive break. In the quiet room learners have continued their interest in flags. As well as making their own interpretations of their favourite flag, educators provided flag puzzles to complete. Lots of problem solving, perseverence, matching and sorting. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇮🇳 🇦🇺

In the Quiet Room we have began exploring flags of the world. Learners have been identifying different colours, shapes and patterns that make each flag special. They have been drawing their own interpretations of their favourite flag. 🇮🇳 🇫🇷 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

In the music room learners have been exploring the nursery rhyme 5 little monkeys, singing songs, role play and mark making their own monkeys 🐒🎵🎤

At the block side learners have continued their interest in forces. Using blankets learners noticed their hair standing up. Educators provided balloons for learners to rub on their hair. We then experimented with tissue paper to see how many we could lift up with the balloon.

Outdoors this week our learners have been exploring the forces push and pull. Describing how each different force feels using mathematical language. Our learners have also noticed the change in weather and have been predicting how ice is made. ❄️🥶

As learners continue to explore Room on the Broom, they wanted to make the witches spell. Educators provided ingredients for learners to choose from. We made lots of colourful, smelly, fizzing potions with learners recalling the magic words ‘iggety, ziggety, zaggety, ZOOM 🪄

In the big room block side the learners have been exploring forces through using magnets and predicting what might happen. The educators provided materials and the learners have been using their problem solving and curiosity skills to decide what was magnetic and what wasn’t. 🧲😊 #forces

The learners in the music room have continued to explore the song 1,2,3,4,5 through making their own fish to act out the song as well as exploring their left and right 🐟🐠🎣

In the big room children have been developing their interest in patterns and sequencing. Children have also been using different resources to create their own space ships and participating in discussions about space.🪐☄️🔭🛸

Learners continue to explore stories in the quiet room. We have been enjoying experiences focussing on Room on the Broom. Learners have been using props to act out the story and even made their own broom 🧹 📕🧙‍♀️

We had a Spooktacular Bookbug today singing lots of Halloween songs rhymes and a story all about trick or treating monsters. 🎃🧛🏼👻

In the music room the learners have been exploring the song “1,2,3,4,5” the learners have been focusing on number sequences through fishing as well as using their hands to represent numbers 🐟🎣

In the music room children have enjoyed doing YMI, children have also used there creativity to make a giant clock and using there bodies to show the correct time, also enjoying using different animals to re enact the rhyme.

In the quiet room we have been exploring The Leaf Man, where the learners have created their own interpretation using a storyboard format 🍂🍃🌿🍁🧡

In the garden we have explored forces by flying our kites, finding autumnal objects, using mathematical language to explore measuring and making lots of yummy treats in the mud kitchen.

In the main playroom (door side) the learners continued to further develop their directional language by using beebots. We have researched maps and town planning, creating their own interpretations

In the garden this week our learners have been continuing to explore mathematic language using transient art and Big and Small! Our leaners have been exploring their forces using their bodies and objects. We have also been developing our self help skills when putting on suits, wellies and jackets☔️😁

In the big room blockside we have investigated other ways to measure ourselves and objects. We have baked delicious blueberry and apple pies in our home corner.

In the music room children have continued their interest in Hickory Dickery Dock, children have used their creativity to stand on the correct numbers of the clock and create there own mice to re enact the rhyme.

This week outdoors we have been celebrating maths week, we have used natural resources, been out in the community and explored different number concepts ☺️ #mathweekscot
