Co-led by UNICEF and Save the Children, the Education Cluster is an open formal forum for coordination and collaboration on education in humanitarian crises.
10 years ago, countries came together to ratify the #SafeSchoolsDeclaration, ramping up commitments to protect education from attacks. At the 5th International Conference, the Ukraine Ed Cluster highlighted how the international community can take to strengthen monitoring systems.
The denial of girls' education is a form of #GBV. Armed groups and the lack of female teachers also increase the risk of GBV occurring in/around schools. Education Clusters have an important role to play by ensuring gender equality is high on the agenda. #16DaysofActivism

At the Inter-Parliamentary Union's General Assembly, Hazel De Wet, Deputy Director, @unicef.org's Office of Emergency Programmes called on parliamentarians as legislators, budget-holders and advocates to champion inclusive education policies and keep #EiE at the heart of the humanitarian response.

The ongoing ban on girls’ secondary education in #Afghanistan leaves them at risk of child labor and early or forced marriages. The Afghanistan Education Cluster in 2025 is coordinating comprehensive #EiE activities to prioritize the most marginalized.
Refugee and internally displaced children are among the most vulnerable populations in crises. But education protects them from violence and exploitation. On this #WorldRefugeeDay, we advocate for refugee and IDP children fleeing violence and persecution to fulfill their right to education.
Taking examples from #Pakistan, PAGE Pakistan discusses the invisible leadership of women-led organizations and the negative perceptions that devalue the contributions women make, when they are often bridges between classroom and the crisis.
While there have been promising efforts to lend concrete support to and investment in women-led organizations (WLOs), @educannotwait.bsky.social highlights that funding cuts seriously threaten over half of WLOs. Empowering girls in and through #EiE must not be deprioritized.
