Sept. 24 is the Day of Action to stop the federal book ban bills. Email Congress, call Congress, take the pledge, write a letter to the editor.

Today in retirement: Had a blast participating in the nobookbans.org Show Up, Speak Up telethon! If you missed my contribution, here it is. Props to my rhythm section (my husband Doug) and to Tony Danza, who first inspired me to pick up the uke!

bsky.app/profile/magg... I've called and emailed before and I'll do it again. I'm a children's book author and an educator of 33 years. All our kids need us to fight for their right to read books that represent them and the world we live in.They are trying to erase people, history and reality.

If you're a book creator and you're mad about our latest scandal du jour I encourage you to channel that energy into: 1. Calling your reps (house) and demanding they vote no on HRs 7661 and 2616 2. Volunteering with AABB. We NEED more people. We NEED this energy. TLDR: Touch grass, call your reps

“If you look at any past civilization, the book banning is where the suppression starts. When they start taking the books away, they're controlling the society … We're under attack by our own government."

Reverend Dove is my hero. He stood up for librarians in his community when book banners tried to tear them down. His scenes in THE LIBRARIANS are so powerful that I cry every time I see the film. I hope to meet him one day to express my thanks & admiration in person. @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social

Congratulations to @gloriaamescua.bsky.social, @sjohnstontaylor.bsky.social, Lisa Gunsberg, and Nick Solis on getting to sign the party porch! 🎉 This WB tradition celebrates students who have had their books published, and we’re so excited to have celebrated them at the Barn recently.

I should have decided to move to BlueSky much sooner, but I’m here now. Hope to get followers who feel like I do that some social media is just too toxic to endure. Hello to you Blue Skyler’s!
