The gap between Yopa and Holom (1st map) isn't FAR but it's a sheer cliff that you can't sail between without travelling days out of the way to find an accessible port. Northern Yopa is similar going into Zipan. Map 2 has the Fjords of Kabra that butt up to mountains. I love my fjords #CartAugust

You shall not pass! Hey #CartAugust crew, time to dive in and really start looking at your maps. Today, we're talking elevation: highs, lows, and if you have neither, barriers to movement. Tell me about the geology, the history, famous explorers who lost their lives there... What do I need to know?

#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds by @mcburnellauthor.bsky.com
Natural features: Day 4, Barriers.
Talk to me about elevation changes in your world. Mountains, canyons, caves. Which is most interesting and why?

There is a LOT of worry. Crash and laughter? The twins are up to shenanigans. but a crash and silence... Kalua got mixed up in the prank and someone is in a LOT of trouble. (Did the temp just drop 20 degrees in there or was it just me...) #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters You and all your characters are staying together somewhere! You hear a loud crash, then silence. Which one do you immediately suspect, and what do you think just happened? Are you worried or mad? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

My OCs all need serious therapy for a variety of issues, but none more than my sweet Kalua, who, despite everything I do to hurt him, he comes out the other side. A little worse for wear but still somehow himself. I did have to give him someone to navigate life with in return #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

[ OC Questions ]@ocqotd.bsky.social · yesterday

Be honest. Did you traumatize your original character for the sake of character development? Was it for better or for worse? #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

Gonna try to keep the thread short. When Solegod decided that the gods should take a human vessel, there were two factions: one that thought it was a great idea and one that thought it was not a great idea. Leader of the good idea was Ignorance and bad idea was Knowledge. 🧵(1/4) #MythAugust

#MythAugust 4 Today, tell me about the different factions among your gods/spirits. Think like the Æsir & Vanir in Norse mythology, or angels & demons in Christianity. What's their relationship? Are they sworn enemies? Sometimes allies? Interpret the question however makes sense for your story!

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 4:
Are there different factions among your deities? If so, what is their relationship to each other?

So, in anticipation for tomorrow's sumluv prompt, I had to do a deep dig. and while i still can't find the files i'm looking for, i found one that's even BETTER. but holy helll, i have SO MUCH written for these kids that I've forgotten I've even written half this stuff. (it's >50 non-novels)

Loke is honest, but will downplay herself and put everyone else's contributions to the forefront Magnar will post a lot of crab about Palen and gush about Loke and his kids Kalua's will be the driest, most precise textbook of a memoir. No one reads it #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

In Holom, no specialized schools but apprenticeships for just about most fields can be had, if someone wants to take you. Most other countries have similar models. Zipan for a while had ONLY military schools. #AugustWorldbuilders

Good day, #AugustWorldbuilders! Today's Q: does your world have specialized schools for people seeking a specific job or trade? Or anything like a magic or military school?

3. Are there specialized schools, like magic, military, or for specific professions?

The background shows space full of stars and nebulas. The colors are mostly blue and pinkish-purple. A bright star shines off to the side

Gods often take on a mortal form by blending with a soul, so those gods will have the person's moral code and personality. Those unbound to humanity tend to do what they want because they aren't restricted to manmade codes and go by their own personality and choices #MythAugust

🫜Prof Emily🫜@professoremily.bsky.social · 3d ago

#MythAugust 3 What kind of moral code do your fantasy gods or spirits follow, if any? Do they share similar moral values to the people, or is their sense of morality completely alien? Do they even do "morality" at all? As usual, interpret as you wish and don't forget to interact with others! ☺️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 3:
How does your deities' sense of morality align with that of people? I.e. are they moral, immoral, amoral, a mix...?

The world itself hasn't changed, only how much of it Magnar had mapped. Which goes from a little bit around where he lives to quite a bit of the world. Each chapter I have a map from the chapter that's supposed to be his :) #CartAugust

#G'day #CartAugust crew! Today, we're living dangerously, brushing up close against the demon Spoilers. The question: if you made two maps, a prologue and an epilogue, would they be the same? And if not, how have the events of the story changed this world?

#CartAugust: a prompt game for map nerds by @mcburnell.bsky.com
Intro: Day 3, A world in flux.
If you were to make two maps, one true to the first chapter of your story, one true to the last, would they be different? In what ways?
(how to treat potential spoilers is entirely up to you)
** Don't forget alt text. I know it's hard to know what to inlcude in images that are really info-dense, but do your best.

Loke does NOT really take crit well. She gets really defensive of it. Depending what it is, it'll be anger or a full meltdown (I think it's chapter 5 this happens) Magnar usually takes it in stride unless it's from Loke, then it's just a verbal war #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters How well does your character handle criticism? Are they easily insulted? Does their confidence suffer from a critique? Do they ignore or shrug it off entirely? Do they learn from it? #WriteSky #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts

picked up some bead weaving for the first time in a few years because i have a creative itch that needs to be scratched. and I watched the Wishbone documentary while beading. y'all. rent it and don't forget some tissues. also, capitalism sucks.

Magnar likes weather that is helpful for his crops. Mostly sunny and nice except some days of adequate rain. he very much dislikes too much of either one. Loke doesn't get outside much, so she doesn't really care what it's doing. #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

[ OC Questions ]@ocqotd.bsky.social · 3d ago

What is your original character's favorite type of weather? Is there any compelling reason why? What about weather they dislike? #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

This was inside a volcano, but it kinda feels like that outside lately for a lot of people. Except where I'm at, it feels more like soup. #WritingCommunity #Writingprompt #Writesky #HQpress #SundaySnips

“Have you found something?” Cam wondered if there was something more than blue tiles.
"Yes and no. It tells Agha’s story, but I don’t know how to reach him.” Loke sighed but was caught off guard again by Balan when he climbed up on the table. “What are you doing?”
“It looks like a pool of water to me. I figured maybe I could just take a quick dip to cool off!”
Before anyone could comment about how absurd his suggestion was, he sank into the table as if it had been made of water and only a single ripple flowed at the surface.

Gonna stick with Holom schools since they don't have private schools. Mostly only compulsory for the littles to learn the basics of reading and writing with some social sciences. actual science not so much. Working/middle class kids will often take on an apprenticeship ...(1/3) #AugustWorldbuilders

I spend book 1 quietly working on the relationship between a few chars, none of which bear fruit for a while. book 2 DOES have 2 weddings, so some things pan out! And one relationship isn't SPELLED out but they ARE a couple, not JUST working together. Then there's Kal and Betti later (1/5) #SumLuv

I'm going to play with the Biyeho, since polytheism is fun. Solegod is the CEO of the gods. he just manages the other gods, for the most part. Some powerful gods are protection, death(reincarnation), Fate. gods that occur a lot in my stories: Knowledge, agriculture, deception, memory #MythAugust
